Feeling bleh today. I miss the sun. The darkness never bothered me before but maybe because I haven’t been able to hike for the past 2 months is making me feel the darkness more. It seems to rain every weekend and I just can’t make it out to hike in this rain.

I've decided to take the day off Wednesday just to get a hike in. The weather should be nice. I need to find a way to be outdoors when the weather is bad. I miss nature.

Yes we need that sunshine. As much as I enjoy the rain and cold a nice bright sunny day is needed every week to break things up

Though I really love the cooler fall season…the shorter daylight hours is felt more as well! Happy hiking Wednesday and hope you have enjoyable weather!

We have good rain gear from REI and hiking in the rain can be peacefully beautiful.

I know what you mean but ours is kind of the opposite. I like hiking/ walking but I live in the desert and it's not possible when it's 115 out. Glad our weather is getting a bit cooler. It's in the 90s but if I go early, it's usually in the mid 70s.

I understand your dilemma. I have the same issue. I love hiking, but the snow & rain are not my favorite ways to enjoy nature. But this year is different. I did a lot of walking & found that’s it’s very beneficial in many ways. I want to keep it up during our long winter. So, I built up my wardrobe to stay comfortable in any weather if I go outside. I also found several walking trails in town (inside & out). There are ways to keep up with the exercise & still enjoy the outdoors.

@daddy I like the cold and the rain too just not together and not every weekend. It has rained here in NY every weekend of September. We had some nice days too but it was all during the work week. October is starting off the same.

@mike I have rain gear too but the rain we’ve been having is heavy. And I prefer my rain when it’s warmer. Cold and wet is 🤢

@diana ouch that’s hot. Even in the 70s is hot for me. But I’ve never hiked in dry 70s. My is usually humid 70s.

@lauren I could just walk around the neighborhood but honestly not a fan of doing that here in NY. I want to be in nature. In the woods away from the cars and buildings. I usually have to drive an hour -two hours to find that.

Have you tried getting a light to help?
10 Oct 23 by member: cjbuchholz1230
Yes P that is not enjoyable, not seeing the sun. We finally had rain here last winter, weeks with no sunshine. The drought kind of spoiled me with so much sun, and after two weeks of marvelous rain I was ready for a break. I remember driving out to the animals and watching the storm break and the sun finally leak through, that was a happy day!

@cj light help?

I think @cj may be talking about happy lights? The have the same UV rays as the sun and can enhance mood and energy.

@omlette where do I get that?

It's been the same for me with the hiking. This past weekend I could have hiked, but I was sick. The Saturdays that are nice I'm working. I know how you feel. I miss my walks. It's so relaxing being out in nature. This working 5 days a week and 6 every other week sucks.
