Everyone is posting their pictures of their pet cats. This is a picture of our pet "cat" Hildegarde. She showed up here one day and decided to eat the squirrel's corn on the cob. Then she started to come every day and eat it. Then she had babies one year and then had more babies and more babies and her babies had babies. Hubby started feeding her by hand as she would come up to us wanting food. She is very old now and she doesn't have babies any more but she is still the queen and she gets special meals prepared only for her. Her favorites are fried eggs, bananas, peanut butter, and dog food. Every night Hildie shows up with about 21 other family members.

Hildie looks so lovable in your picture, but I’m not sure how I would feel about her if I saw her surrounded by her entire family of 21 raccoons. Actually, I know how I would feel: totally freaked out!😀

LOL. The others think of us as family too. We don't usually allow the others to touch us but occasionally they do and are very nice. Hildie touches hubby every night on the arm. We have no idea why but it is important to her.

Cool, we had a family of 🦨 like this. We started feeding local stray cats and Mom reach down to pet a stray kitty cat and realize that she was putting a skunk freaked out and ran away. overtime we got used to our new visitors they were very friendly and she eventually brought her kits. which became even more friendly and tame then she was over time as they grew. growing up in the country we also saved quite a few skunk and other wild animals from the road when their parents were accidentally/on purpose ran over by people to adulthood and would raise them and would release them. just a note to those of you that may think why didn't they just contact animal control in most cases animal control will merely put down animals in these cases citing it's in the animal's best interest so they don't get hurt now explain to me how murdering the animals in his best interest and how that doesn't hurt them I'm not really sure so in our case we always did our best by them raise them in the best way we could and re-release them. we would see them later with kids and little baby animals so they seem to do just fine. This particularly true in the case of raptors and birds of prey if you do not have a animal sanctuary in your area they will just take the bird and kill it they will not try to save it or relocated they will just put it down. 😧 😭 Not casting shade just letting people know. my mother now has her licenses to save raptors but at the time she was still in training...

Leah, it is the same here. Vets will not treat wild animals and animal control euthanizes them. So hubby and I have also done some wild life rehab as the closest ones to us are very far away. We rehabbed a goldfinch that was hit by a car and released it. And a flicker that had got caught inside a pipe and was dehydrated. Plus wild box turtles. We have a turtle feeding station. I have videos of hubby feeding Hildegarde, of him feeding a turtle, and of a bunch of the babies and Hildegarde eating at night. So glad your mom became an animal rehabilitator.
