G'Mornin🌞🌻

“Morning is an important time of day, because how you spend your morning can often tell you what kind of day you are going to have.” – Lemony Snicket

I'd really like to instill an exercise time for myself in the mornings. 20-30 minutes dedicated to some kind of formal exercise. I have resistance bands, elliptical bike/climber, dumbbells, stair stepper, stretching straps, kettle bell (8 lbs), and a BUNCH of YouTube videos bookmarked. The mornings that I DO make the time for it definitely...DEFINITELY make a difference in my energy level & my mood for the rest of the day.

There are many examples on the web for exercise plans/schedules. Now, I've just gotta sit down and pencil in how many days to do strength, cardio, stretching, upper body, lower body, core, gym or home?, etc....It's daunting.

Would love to hear YOUR exercise routines/schedules.

I am not a huge morning exerciser, but here is my routine: Monday, Wednesday, Friday: full body weight training 45mins-1hour Tuesday, Thursday, Saturday: boxing or HIIT training 30mins-1hour Sunday/Wednesday: yoga 30mins-1hour I also walk on an under desk treadmill during the day, aiming for 5,000-10,000 steps a day outside of structured exercise

gstrobin ~ thank you so much for responding! That's exactly the kind of thing I need to set up for myself (only I think I'll start out with less minutes). The under desk treadmill sounds do-able for me too...where did you find one?

@CrystalJo74 I got the Popfit treadmill from Amazon, around $250! It needed a little adjusting but the customer service was excellent! Both myself and my husband use it daily and love it. It was a little challenging at first to walk and work but I keep the speed low and it’s going better now

Thanks, I will make a note of it, but $250....yikes! Have to see if the budget would allow! 😂

I understand! We saved up for a few months before purchasing :)

When I first started, I did 4 weight training exercises, 3 times a week. I performed 4 sets of 10 for each exercise but started with only 2 sets of 10. I picked dumbells I could easily lift for 15 reps. I did squats, bench press (or push ups), bent over rows, and upright front rows. A simple and effective start.

Not sure which time zone you’re in, CrystalJo, but you might want to check out these live exercise classes offered by AARP via Zoom: https://seniorplanet.org/classes/ They are completely free and you don’t even have to sign up in advance. Just click on the link when the class is starting (can leave camera off). So far I have watched the one called Fit Fusion that is offered MW at noon Eastern and the instructor uses equipment just like what you have. I’m usually not too crazy about exercising by myself with videos but this was really good. There’s also an earlier class called Morning Stretch. Plus lots of other sessions on topics of interest to seniors. Free is hard to beat. 😁

gstrobin ~ I went to Amazon.com and bookmarked a couple to keep in mind. Looked at the treadmill and also standing desks to use while on it😎

Hey Crystal! So glad you liked the class! I haven’t tried that one yet. Was the instructor named Cas? He seems very knowledgeable, and also attentive to whether people are exercising correctly (if they have their cameras on, obv).

RhumbaGirl~ yes, it was Cas. I tried his Tai CHI class today also, but it wasn't really beginner and I left early😳
