Asarver's Journal, 07 Jan 23

I got maybe 4 hours of sleep last night but still managed to get up and do an 8 mile walk/run. For some reason I could not fall asleep, it was quite terrible. A nap is most definitely in my future.

I ate half a banana before my run, and a protein shake and a handful of almonds after, which is supposed to help curb the voracious appetite that usually comes after long runs. It has not worked, I feel like I could eat the world right now. I might need to experiment with different foods beforehand.

anywho, have a good weekend folks! any good plans?

After a lot of experimenting, I’ve found that a bowl of beans after a workout is the right amount of protein and fiber to keep me satiated until the next meal. I usually stir in wilted spinach or a bell pepper to keep it interesting. How do your feet feel after the run?

Awesome job! 8 miles is so cool! It has to be rainy up there but it is beautiful during and after storms up there.

@otb, you can do it! 😁 Do you do any cardio or is lifting your main exercise?

@JB, I don't think I could do beans in the morning but I love that idea for afternoon runs! My left foot has been great, I can run with little too no pain. My right foot tends to feel sore around/ behind my heel, not sure what's up with it. How have you been?

Thanks, Daddy Manatee! The rain finally stopped yesterday or the day before. The storm was pretty scary, I hate thunderstorms and it was the worst in awhile. Our Greenway is flooded 😑 the weather is better by you, no?

I still get out and do a ton of walking 10 -15k steps every day but right now while I'm doing this bulk experiment I had to cut out all the intense cardio because it's hard enough trying to out eat my daily exercise between the lifting and walking. Come March I will add the rower , bike trainer, mountain biking and even start my running preparation. I have 15k tough mudder booked for the end of May.

Main roads and highways closed due to flooding. I take back roads with my truck to get to work and will sneak around the road blocks if no one is there. Finally a break in the storm but last couple days were rough. Broken doors and gates and fence from the winds!
