CrystalJo74's Journal, 09 Oct 22

Happy Weekend to you my friends😎

My mind is on 'muscles' today. I thought very little of building muscle during the majority of my weight loss, but now that I'm in maintenance mode I need to give that same level of commitment to regular sessions of strength training & low impact aerobics that I gave to my WOE. I want as many of those little fat burning factories as I can get, to help maintain my weight and mobility.

These are my new resistance bands and I enlarged the quote from the booklet that came with them cuz it seemed to really speak to me. When we set time aside for 'exercise' (of any kind!) we are in the 'arena'.... who will join me today?? Let's be 'valiant' together!!💪🏻💪🏻💪🏻

I'm in the same boat. I didn't do much in the way of strength training when I was losing, but now really need to focus on incorporating it. My problem is, I love activity, but hate exercise 😉

Redporchlady, me too!! This graphic really helped me to see the 'why' and 'how' of strength training. Now I just need to commit to the 'when'😉

RhumbaGirl, right!! I've learned that it's not necessarily the quantity (for me) but more the quality & consistency of daily activity & exercise that makes the difference. My workouts are indeed 'modest' compared to others here on FS, but you know what?...it's still a whole lot more than I used to do! 😂

writingwyo, right! The hardest part for me is just getting up off my buttinski!! So to keep it interesting, I keep trying new things: varied forms of 'exercise/movement', different YouTube videos, lively 🎶, setting up a 'place' in my home for all the equipment I've accumulated from Goodwill & online, motivating screensavers on my laptop & fun ways of tracking what and

I watched a "5 rules to live by" video yesterday from Simnett Nutrition, and the first was that the hardest part of exercising is lacing up the shoes and getting started. Good for you for taking those steps! I don't belong to a gym and don't really want to, so I'm keeping it simple and starting to do a few push-ups each day. It helps that it's now become a challenge between me and my husband to both do it. I know a lot of the folks on FS who are way into weight training might find what I do laughable, but it's more than I WAS doing! The video's here, if you have any interest in watching: https://youtu.be/p008CxDZKu4
