HerStrawberri's Journal, 16 Jun 11

Ok so I got on the scale today and I've gained almost a lb! I'm very discouraged. I have been exercising every day and I thought for sure my weight would go down. My cals were a bit low yesterday so maybe that was it? I know I had a bad weekend, maybe that screwed up my progress? I think maybe I need to tweek some things. I drink almost a gallon of water a day, maybe I need to drink more? I have 2 days left before my 'official' weigh in so maybe I can lose something. I wanted to be in the 320's. =( I'm NOT going to let it get me down. I have been exercising all week and that is such an improvement for me. I can work on my food. Maybe I need to eat more. I think it's the carbs. My total carbs have been over 50 but not my net carbs. Maybe I need to make sure my total carbs stay below 50. ::sigh:: I will have to give up my wheat wraps and I LOVE them. i KNOW I need more veggies. Any suggestions buddies?

I started reading this & I thought it was my journal from yesterday!!! I wrote something very similar yesterday in my journal, only I was up 2 lbs. Relax. Today I was back down but I know how you feel. My progress has been a lot of ups and downs but I am almost at a 40 lb. loss. I have mentioned in my journals before that I listen to 2 podcasts- Cut the fat podcast and fat2fitradio. You can find both of them free on iTunes or just google them. They have facebook pages and websites. It has been very helpful for me. Not only is it motivating but they also address lifelong yo yo dieters and the problem with eating too few calories. Hang in there. Steady and slow wins the race.

Shhhh.... settle down.... breathe... ok? Better?? Now, I would be willing to bet large sums of money that it is just water weight. How? Because you have been exercising every day and that new stress on the muscles causes them to "balloon" a little with extra water to repair microscopic tears and re-nourish them. Pay more attention to your clothes than the scale in times like these for a "second opinion" of sorts. Give it time and it will acclimate to your new routine. ;)

I'm in the same boat! I have just started exercising and trying to lose weight and I have been doing great on my calories and exercising everyday and still havent lost weight. This morning while I was getting ready for work though, my boyfriend said "baby you are getting skinny." Thats all I needed to hear to assure me that what I'm doing it working.

You are right, slow and steady IS the way to go. =) @ Ms Savannah I hope you are right! I just got a little upset when i saw the scale. I'm ok now. I will keep pluggin along and hope everything gets back to normal. I AM going to tweek my food a little bit though. Thank you so much for the post!

awww Alli that is so nice your BF noticed and said that to you! YAY for supportive partners!! I think a big prob I have is I don't really LOOK at myself in the mirror. I always wear cloths that are way to big for me so when i DO look in the mirror all i see is a big fat fatty looking back. i think today, at some time, I will put on normal clothes and really LOOK at myself. Maybe if I can SEE a difference I won't get so upset with the scale. YOU will start seeing results too. It just takes a little time for our bodies to adjust.....so I have been told. Good luck!!!

You had some Great Advice already. :) When the scale is getting you down, but you've been working your plan and working out loads during the week. It's probably water weight and your muscles adjusting/repairing themselves. Take body measurements, and full size body pics. They're a great way to get motivation when the scale is getting you down. Also try going through your clothes, and finding out if any of them are getting lose. My pants crisis has escalated in the last few days...I now only have 1 pair that I can't slide off buttoned. -le sigh- Don't get discouraged! I bet you look great! And have put on some muscle the last week and have really burned some fat!! Woot!
