suma-ya-c's Journal, 19 Sep 22

A strange and melancholy day. I have met the Queen twice. Once when she visited my school and another when she came to officially ‘open’ the place where I was on attachment during university. I enjoy history and love the pageantry and circumstance around these events. After a terrible weekend where I could not curb my hunger and just ate mindlessly, I tried to stay in the moment today, watching this once in a lifetime event. I’m trying to reflect on her discipline. In her shoes, I’d have been the size of a house! But she appeared moderate in everything and seemed incredibly healthy for her age. Money can’t buy health, but clearly discipline and good habits can. Here’s to a better food week ahead for all of us 😊.

Focus on each day, each healthy, nutritious meal or step you take towards your goals. Remember how good you feel when you make the right choices.

Suma , Do you think IF fits you? It wouldn’t be a fit me, and maybe that’s why you sometimes go off the rails after fasting, maybe try something else for a month, like eating very regularly, breakfast, snack, lunch, snack, dinner, snack , and all that can be done on 1400 calories

Jamie, knowing you, you’ll be trying to catch up for all the weeks you were out of commission. If I did your job, I’d take a nap into next week after day 1. Hope you’re not overdoing things in the run up to 🎅. I have wondered about the IF and bingeing. However I do about 13-14hours so didn’t think it was an issue. I have stopped IF because it just felt like one more thing I was failing at. I’m going to focus on each meal like you said and see where that gets me. I should really weigh myself this week, working up the courage to get it done. Not because I’m afraid of doing it, but if the number is terrible, my mind will give me permission to go off the rails again and I’d rather not.

If you do weigh yourself, that’s your starting point, and continue from there, I think if you can eat more during the day, you’ll be less likely to overeat after your shift, and by spreading the meals out, you’ll be less hungry and more likely to stay within your goals, you’ve totally got this, I know you have. ❤️

Suma, if you feel strong hunger, in my point of view, you need to change your diet. Because a correct diet should avoid this strong feeling. Just check your portion of Protein Carb Fibers Fat Vitamins And you need to notice your energy and emotional patterns during the day. According to this, you need to choose the time of your meals. If you eat more carbs or less protein and fiber you will feel hungry.

Thanks Jamie💙💙. Just need to find a new rhythm that feels comfortable and realistic. I spent over an hour on deliveroo trying to find a ‘healthy’ option. Finally caved and ordered fried rice which wasn’t the smartest option. But I ate mindfully and stopped once I was full. So I’m counting it as a win.

@Dagher…it has mostly been emotional hunger rather than true hunger. I find that when I’m overwhelmed or tired, I use food to self soothe. So gauging that hunger is always difficult as it is never satisfied until the negative emotion settles a little. It’s something I’ve unfortunately been doing on and off for the past 6 years. I know I can do better and I end up feeling frustrated and defeated with myself which is unhelpful. But being on here, talking about health and what works always helps💚💙. Reading about fitness journeys inspires me to try harder.

Suma, it is normal and it is a common issue. That’s why I told you you need to track the time of emotional eating and then reorganize your mail. I am willing to help. And don’t worry I do have a good knowledge and experience with dietitian and nutrition. And I have guided many men and woman in that.

I eat plenty of protein, so don’t think that’s the issue. Just a tricky emotional ebb where I can’t seem to stop reaching for food😤

I’m good Ad. Had a little time away which was lovely. Will weigh myself soon and have stern talk with myself 🙄. How are you?
