Sandy701's Journal, 26 May 11

Wow, Day #3 of walking in higher heat and humidity has just about done me in. I'm definitely more tired, even pushing the water and broth. Still got my 3.3 miles in; doggies 1.5.

Just a couple random thoughts to journal today.

DH has decided to use FS to track his meals now that he's closing in on a PT test. So, at least on weekends, we battle over computer time! LOL! Don't be surprised if you see me logged in but don't see much activity. FS doesn't seem to handle multiple people logged in on the same computer at the same time - unless I just don't know how to do it correctly, which is QUITE possible!

I was sorting and arranging various recipes I've collected and noticed the one for Cheesecake Pancakes. I ran a copy of the recipe back in October 2010. This recipe has since been tweaked by various members and there's been some discussion of the accuracy of the food counts.

What I noticed on my 10/10 copy of the recipe is that the Nutrition Facts are for 1 serving but the recipe itself indicates that the batch makes TWO servings! So, the 4 oz. cream cheese, 2 large eggs, etc. actually make TWO servings and the Nutrition Facts are for ONE serving. This only serves to reiterate the importance of individually entering the ingredients of any recipe into your food logs - as you make it, with your own measurements and brands - to verify you've got an accurate count of everything.

Anyone watch "America's Got Talent?" Last season's winner, singer-songwriter Michael Grimm, just released his debut CD last week and I love it! I liked him on the show but wasn't sure what kind of CD he'd put out, so I truly had no expectations. Well, I'm likin' it!!! He sings a song with Ann Wilson (from Heart??) and also one with Travis Tritt. He sings an Alicia Keys song and one by Rod Stewart, along with a smattering of his own songs. Grimm is hard to categorize but I guess bluesy might work. If you have a chance, sample some of the songs online, but I think some of you might just be running on down to snatch this one up!

Enjoy Memorial Day weekend, be safe, and don't forget those men and women who have made the supreme sacrifice in this country's name.

Sandy - have you considered swimming for your morning exercise since you are coming back soaking wet anyway? Enjoy your weekend and thanks for the reminder of what it's all about.

LOL Buffy! I really am pretty wet by the time I finish....got to peel off the clothes. As soon as the weather warms up my pool a bit more (or the heat pump gets fixed), I'll be doing some exercise in the pool, that's for sure! At our previous house, we had a 40' pool - it was built so I could swim laps. But this one is only 30' AND it has an underwater seating bench across one end, making it rather difficult to make turns easily - not that I do flip turns, but it's still hard to turn without bashing my feet into that bench somehow.

Bren....Happy Anniversary (a bit early)! Marriages definitely need to be celebrated beyond the wedding. Shrimp sounds wonderful. You can find Michael Grimm's CD at Wal-Mart or Target...got mine at WM ($10) and saw it advertised at Target the week it came out.

PS - Forgot to thank you for the Almond Butter review. Think I'll keep checking to see if I can find one with no sugar.

Buffy...yes, it turns out the almond butter actually had a gram MORE sugar than the natural PB I've been using. And, it's for sure....I like it just as much as PB. :(
