Ingria's Journal, 27 Oct 14

Yesterday was my 3rd anniversary on FS. When I have time I will try to calculate how much total weight I lost over these 3 years. The problem is - I am only 6 lb bellow my start weight of 192 which was my highest weight ever. I.e. I was losing and regaining. On the positive side, these were the only 3 years when I was not slowly moving to the next record number.

I am trying to learn to work less and pay more attention to my health, but It is a balancing act, as I have a very demanding job and do not want to lose it just because I slack too much. Also I get derailed when I do not feel well as I end up eating more trying to boost my energy levels. That does not really work, but ... Add my family to the picture, they have their needs as well and keep fighting for my attention. That leaves me very little time for myself. But I am trying.

I was feeling slightly more energetic this week, and am trying to use this time to lose a few more lbs. The weather was lovely and we went hiking on Sunday. Trying some new exercise tapes as well. Now that it is too cold to swim in the pool I need to add more structured exercise.

belated happy anniversary!!

Ingria, I have a similar issue. I've been with Fatsecret 5 years and after a ridiculous break where I gained back the 30 pounds I had so happily lost in '08/09 and found myself at 191 from my very happy weight at 155. So my highest was a tad higher this time than it was last time, but only by about 5 pounds. Why I wanted to write you a note though, was because I want to underline something you said. In these five years I've been watching more closely what I'm eating and how it makes me feel. I've been educating myself on healthy eating patterns. I've been walking more than I ever did in my whole life. I turned 50 this year and I know I am slowly creating new healthier eating patterns for the rest of my life. I am proud that I care enough about my health to be conscious that foods affect my moods which actually create my day-to-day life. So when you said you were not moving up 'to that next record number' I had to have a flush of gratitude that if I had not been as knowledgeable I may have easily broken that 200 pound barrier and felt entirely defeated. As things stand I can stay happily within a 30 pound range. I've been at 177 for three months now. Up a pound, down a pound. I realize that with my 5'8" Swedish/European build its probably not that out of line for a 50 year old menopausal woman. I could happily lose another 18 pounds and I could happily be happy as I do lose that 18 pounds because I can be proud that I care enough about it to love myself through all of it. So thanks for sharing. We're all in the same boat and the boat is not sinking anymore.

Hi Ingria - I find that I usually do have some idea what it is that is causing me not to lose. You know what you need to do to make a difference. The challenge is to ACTUALLY DO IT. Look back over the last three years - what worked? What didn't? You have all the answers. Good luck!
