DH was home today so he took both doggies out walking early. Freed from my canine obligations, I tackled the lawn.

But as I was getting ready to do the lawn, I got DH to help me further dismantle the heat pump to see if I could clear out the nest inside. That mouse is one smart cookie! He/she obviously heard me talking about its imminent demise and decided to clear out of the place before that could happen, hopefully never more to be seen!

The clean-up of the nest took longer than I expected, but the end result is that the bottom of the heat pump is now clean and clear. I wore gloves and a face mask, so I should be safe from hantavirus. DH then helped me put everything back together again, placing some weatherproof foam in the 3 potential entrances. Hopefully, that will be enough to discourage any visiting rodents from entering. At least it's enough for a stop-gap measure until we can come up with a better plan.

Mostly, I needed to get the pump put back together in advance of the rain tomorrow. The main circuit boards were exposed and they're not meant to be out in the rain.

Just had time to finish the lawn, basic care only, when I had to shower and get to the neighboring city for a haircut. It turns out we had a miscommunication and the stylist thought the appointment was tomorrow and I thought it was today. Not a big deal, as I had other errands to take care of over in that area anyway. I got all those done so I'll have time to shop JoAnn's tomorrow after my haircut!

Tomorrow will be more yard work, as we have a number of larger tree/shrubs that need trimming - again. I had them all trimmed and under control, but that was last year and everything just grows like crazy here. No rest for homeowners, I guess.

Glad to hear that the critter has cleared out, the nest is gone, and the holes are patched with the expanding foam...that should keep the little buggars out! Sorry about the hair appt. but at least it wasn't a wasted trip. I would love to see pic of the haircut when you are done. Have a wonderful Friday!
