AM I CRAZY? Wait don't answer that. :) A 5K by Thanksgiving? Maybe. I am afraid to even go there, LOL. I am such a competitive person, that's one reason I was good at sports when I was younger. I do love me a challenge.

I started thinking about it last week, looking at the calendar and wondering if I could do it. One thing that is completely realistic is how I'm feeling on the treadmill... it still hurts a bit when I first get going, but after 10 minutes I'm warmed up and starting to hit my stride and by 20 I am completely loose and I am starting to feel like I could keep going for a while, right now I'm up to 25 mins, so tomorrow I'm going to try 30. That doesn't include the 5 minute warm up after stretching when I first get there, before I move on to the weight machines.

Even if I am not 5k ready in the fall that's ok, I will still be moving toward my goal and feeling even better about myself! So, maybe it will happen... we'll see. One day at a time.

Jan, you can totally do that! Remember, running outside is different than running inside. Now that the weather is getting nice, it is great to be out in the fresh air. I can not run on the treadmill at all, it is somewhat of a combination of bifocals and equilibrium playing tricks with my balance.

Jan, I don't think you are crazy. I call your condition inspired. A 5K in November is certainly a realistic goal for you to have. With your determination and competitive spirit, I am sure you can achieve this! Go for it! Why do I have the theme from "Rocky" playing in my head? It will probably stay in my head all night!

Thanks very much to both of you! Six months, seven if I plan for around Thanksgiving, you know I think that probably is plenty of time. I'll certainly be in much better shape physically by then with a lot less body fat. MSL I know all about that d@mned song, I have had visions of running up those steps LOL. Maybe a visit to Philly might be in my future. :O)
