Sandy701's Journal, 01 Apr 11

Walked 3.3 miles this AM in the sunshine. Doggies along for just 1.3 today (half their usual) due to loose dogs from the "corner" house.

I rechecked my speed on the 2 miles I walked alone and only came up to 3.25 mph rather than the 3.3 mph I had clocked the last time. For me, that's close enough, so I'm not going to re-do my split calculations on the exercise diary. Right now, I've got my mileages worked out and split mathematically between 3.0 mph and 3.5 mph in the diary so that it comes out to 3.3 mph. It's putsy, and trying to be more exact than it has to be, but I try to keep it reasonably honest...which is why I'm journaling that my current speed is a bit under what I'm reporting.

Before my trip to Atlanta, I had been staying hungry after breakfast. Same thing now that I'm back home. So, today, I also ate a leftover piece of steak along with my usual breakfast and so far, so good. I may just have to go back to 3 eggs in the AM, rather than 2.

Today is the first day of April and I had hoped to be at 170. I'm one pound away so I'll give myself until the 15th.

I'm 26 pounds away from my goal of 145; 33 away from 138. I think I'd like to be at, or about, 138 and then give myself some leeway to fluctuate up to a max of 145, but I'll just have to see how this all works out. I know I was 164 back in the fall of 1989, but that's the lowest I've been since that time. I think a weight of 154 +/- puts me back in the "normal" category for weight. As a grown, "mature" adult, I've been as low as the mid-120's for a consistent stretch of time, but it was an effort to stay there, even with a more youthful metabolism.

I'm beginning to consider my next goals and timing, as I want to set up the next few milestones when I hit 170. Right now, my thoughts are in taking things slowly as I begin to really look for my CLL and ACE and also start to add more foods into the mix....kind of like a pre-pre-pre-maintenance! I had so much weight to lose in OWL, that I wanted to get closer to goal before I really began adding net carbs to see where my CLL was. For the longest time, I've just tried to stay at or under 30 net carbs.

Good afternoon, Sandy. I think that you are trying to make me jealous with all this talk of sunshine! lol I eat 3 cackle fruit when I have them. This morning I had 3 cackle fruit, 2 ounces of cackle meat, and some low sugar ketchup on top, along with 2 cups of java with one serving of cream and one packet of suncrystals. Good luck setting your new goals. You have done remarkably well and should really be proud of all your accomplishments to date! Have a wonderful weekend my friend!

Hi Stef. Yes, I talk about the sunshine all the time (when we have it, that is). Mostly, I think it's because for the first 3-4 months we lived here, it was nothing but hot, humid, dark, cloudy weather with storms nearly every day...all in all just horrible! I truly think that with all that gloomy weather and the stress of moving in, I was probably clinically depressed! It was bad. So now when we get the sunshine, I just revel in it. Of course the heat and humidity are not far away. So when you and others are enjoying your late spring and summer weather, I'll be down here dripping! Have a good weekend.

I just love how you are giving yourself freedom to "settle" in on a weight that will work for you. I, too have been having some of your same wondering type thoughts regarding what life & WOE will be when I finally get There! Planning ahead really helps me alot too. Good luck!!

@ Gg-girl...When I first started this journey, I had thought to set up a goal of 135, but I just couldn't face having to lose 100 pounds. That number scared me and was too depressing to think about. So, I settled for 145 which made it "only" 90 pounds to lose. But now that I'm getting closer, I'm trying to look at what would be a reasonable weight, health-wise, but also a weight that I'm not struggling every day to achieve and/or maintain. I don't want to have to fight with my body for the rest of my life to maintain some magic number. And because I haven't been below 164 in over 20 years, well, it's really a best-estimate as to where I'll settle in. Have a good weekend.

Sandy, Missouri has the worst humidity....we live between 2 rivers...well actually 3! Missouri, Mississippi, and then the Cuivre River which is less than a mile from my house.

Sandy, Maybe you can set a higher weight goal and make steps. Move it down as you go. The goal doesn't have to be the exact weight you want to end up at. I moved mine up ten pounds like you It seems so far away and I needed a little mental boost I was getting closer. I am not sure how your diet allows, but you could put in a yogurt with fiber like activia, or cottage cheese doubles with fiber. I find it is the fiber as well as the protein that helps me to feel more full and fight the hunger. I also space out breakfast. When I am at work, I eat one thing then 30-1 hour later like yogurt and drink loads of water. Then I feel more full. You get the picture, kind of snacking but still under breakfast. It helps hold me over until lunch. Enjoy the rest of the beautiful weekend. Cheers, Melissa

Thanks for the ideas Melissa. I do like yogurt, esp when I add 1 TBSP of sugar free preserves to it. But I've found that I can get bloated and it seems to slow me down ever so slightly, so I have to make yogurt a "sometimes" food. You're right, I have to find something that can tide me over until lunch and/or fight off that initial hunger in the AM, more than just my cheese stick. Lots to think about. Have a good week.

Sandy, check the scrambled egg cups that I entered into my food diary yesterday and today. They are awesome, easy to make, and you can take one out of the fridge, wave it for 30 seconds and have it on the go.

Will do. Thanks Stef.
