Hipaagrammy's Journal, 11 Sep 14

Hello Journal,

Well, now I know...there is no Woosh Fairy...sniff, sniff :*(

Actually I'm learning about glycogen and how it stores energy and retains water when we do resistance-type workouts. I don't understand all of it yet. But from what I gather the reason I don't lose weight immediately after a day with two hard workout sessions and a low calorie intake is my body is hanging on to water via the glycogen my muscles are using for energy and repair...something like that anyway.

Well, unlike finding out there was no Santa and no Tooth Fairy - at which time all goodies dwindled to a stop...finding out about the Woosh Fairy has good things in store. I now know the woosh is coming. In the old days I would get frustrated after a hard workout and low-intake day if there was not a good loss the next day on the scales. "How can this be?!! I worked so hard! I watched what I ate! And I've GAINED weight?!!!" - you get the picture...but now knowing I will get rid of that weight in the next few days (hopefully not with a literal woosh) I can
continue with my lifestyle confident the changes will come.

On other topics:

The Mouse War may be over. Two nights with no sign of mice. I will stay diligent in my trap setting duties for a while in case they are smarter than I think.

I'm praying about what to do next. I could easily get myself involved in any number of worthy adventures.
1. I think my mother would like to move in with us and now that DS#6's family has moved out it is a possibility...(GoodMan is not crazy about the idea and he is usually her champion so I think I got my answer on that one).
2. Our church has always strongly suggested everyone join a small group. We were a part of a small group for 10 years. The group decided to disband because some members moved, changed churches, etc...(no falling out, just life changes) anyway, I'm having trouble deciding which small group to join. GoodMan is supportive of just about anything. I'm researching the different groups but nothing seems to quite fit. - When I pray about it I feel I should wait...but is that God talking or Me?
3. DIL#5 could use help with the boys. (DS#5 is a whole other story). Her mom is available and needs the money for babysitting. But GoodMan seems to think I should step in and help out more. That just feels like it could be a never ending, all consuming job. So I resist.

As I type I realize this is part of the dance of delicate balance GoodMan and I go through. He is an extravert. I am an introvert. He will go-go-go and join every group and over commit himself until people get irritated that he cannot accomplish all the good works he has committed himself to. I on the other hand tend toward isolation. I would prefer not to make commitments, but once I have made one (like taking care of my parents for 18 years), I put my all into it. We have worked some of this out through the years. GoodMan is involved in politics - I am not. GoodMan invites groups (political groups, church groups, university student groups) to our home to use the swimming, go-cart, and other facilities and I prepare food and welcome guests and then tend to retreat to read a book. This delicate balance usually has GoodMan pushing and I pull back, putting the breaks on going too far too fast. I think I need to find something to go toward...instead of running away from. I just need God to give me some direction on what that might be.

Well, I think I've found my prayer focus for today. I am keeping ClassicRocker and other FS members in my prayers. I hope everyone has a great Thursday!
