20 lbs to go to get to my first goal! Thinking about trying keto, but not sure if it's worth the effort? It seems pretty strict & hard. Does it really work that well, or could the same results be seen by just eating well-balanced meals, staying in calorie deficit, and cutting sugar/ processed carbs? 🤔

Not every diet works for everyone. The one thing all diets have in common is that you must be in a calorie deficit to lose weight. The one thing that helped me was to consider that it wasn’t a diet , it is a lifestyle change. I eat anything I enjoy, always in moderation.

Unless you can truly see yourself be off carbs for the rest of your life, I would suggest cutting down a bit but not going full keto. Just my opinion of course, you do you. I believe in long term sustainability and for me keto is not a viable option.

Well I just had a big bag of popcorn so I guess keto is out the window hahaha. I'm just getting impatient, I think. Tsk tsk.

It works for some people but I wouldn’t necessarily say it works better than other diets. The one that works the best is the one that you can stick to & turns into a change in lifestyle rather than a temporary diet. You could always try & if you don’t like it then just go back to whatever you’re doing.

I lost lot of wait by eating healthy, tracking nutrients, keeping calories at suggested minimum of 1200/day + max of 45 carbs per meal + lots of exercise, especially walking. It took a while & lots of consistency but I'm now at Maintenance Weight. Do what you feel comfortable with & take 1 step at a time. Good luck

I did keto for months and lost 20lbs. It gets expensive unless u keep it simple. If you like carbs and snacks the alternatives are pretty pricey. That's y I'm switching to see with this diet bc u can eat what u want but in calories.

Personally, I do better with lower carb, especially now that I'm in my late 40s. Calorie counting wasn't working so well. With that said, I don't do keto because it's too strict. I like things like corn on the cob. I just focus on protein and veggies, and for bread I use Carbonaut gluten-free bread (I have to order online, but it's good).

Thank you for all of the info, everybody! And thanks for the recommendations, reboot, I think I'll probably do the same as you. And might check out that bread!
