Interesting physical. She did a stress ekg in the office. Looked good but she said my target rate should be higher than I had come up with. She said go for 145. Kinda nice to have one just geared toward me instead of off a chart. Won't have blood work back for a few days.

Not going to put in my exercise today no idea what to put in

She said your heart rate should be higher? Does that mean she wanted you to go faster or something? I'm not sure I understand :) Anyway, I'm glad it apparently went well! Great news!

Per various heart rate charts i averaged my target rate as about 135. Gaging by the stress ekg test my doc told me to use 145 as a target rate instead. She said it was much more accurate to base a traget rate individually than using charts that are figured on averages.

Thank goodness you had a great physica! And thank you for sharing that. There is a heart rate monitor on my elliptical but I had no idea what my goal should be. Now I'll shoot for 145. Think the highest I've ever gotten was 137.

I think everyone is different. My doc gave me that number after doing the stress ekg. It is based on my heart rate as compared to my ekg, how long it took me to get to that rate, and my recovery rate. She also knows very well my asthma history as I've seen her often since I switched to her almost 3 years ago. I had guessed at one looking at various target heart rate charts, my guess was 135. If you have a stress test you might ask what would be good for you.

It will be a challenge to actually keep that up for 20 min. I can do intervals on the treadmill up to 140 but not for very long. Something to aim for! Grins

I have one of those heart rate watches with a wearable body strap which I never learned how to use, which is kind of wasteful lol. One of these days I have to spend 30 minutes learning how that thing works :D

It's always good to have a specific number to aim for! :)
