mars2kids's Journal, 06 Mar 14

Despite wanting to eat myself silly yesterday and not getting my workout in, I am feeling positive today. I know I will have struggles, but I also know I can overcome them. Today's challenge, it's my hubby's birthday and the kids want to make him a cake, so I'm going to try to do well all day and get my workout in so I can enjoy that cake. I know I'm going to eat a piece so I may as well be able to enjoy it rather than feel guilty eating it.

I watched a really neat video someone posted on Facebook last night. It's a girl that has trained in the last year to run a marathon. She had gained a lot of weight during her pregnancy and hadn't lost it, then decided to start eating better and running. She has added other workouts in too, but mainly does her running. She's lost 35 lbs, which seems to be a lot for her, and she has gained muscle that you can see in her before and after pics. She's done 2 half marathons and a full marathon. It was inspiring to watch her transformation and left me thinking, my goal is only a 5K, if she can train and run a marathon I know I can train to run a 5K. Then this morning my son brings me a note from the school about their annual 5K. We did it last year, but I hadn't trained at all to run it and I ran and walked with the kids, so this year I'm going to make this my goal to train for it and run it. The only issue will be that my son won't be able to run the whole thing, so I'm going to see if my Mom or other family members might want to do it too. I know my Mom would stick with my son and then I could actually run it. The weather will be warming up in the next week, so I should be able to start running outside. It's time to start the running chapter of my fitness journey!

Have a great Thursday!

Hooray for 5Ks! I know you can do it!! My goal is to run a whole 5K too, although I won't be able to officially run the whole thing at the event as my running buddies are definitely not going to be able to lol. I can still train for it though, and run it in the gym. Enjoy the cake :-)
