Good Evening, FS Warriors! Got home from work with just enough time to throw a Hungry Man chicken dinner in the microwave and get out on the tractor. So much snow piled up against the school and starting to come in downstairs. Made a mess in one of the rooms; should have pulled the snow away before it became a sloppy mess. Oh well, live and learn. Came back in and vacuumed up some water and called it a night. Weigh-in tomorrow morning. A Hungry Man Fried Chicken Dinner wouldn't have been my choice of fare the night before weigh-in, but DW forgot to take anything out of the freezer to thaw, and I was a "Hungry Man."

Still well below my RDI, but only expecting to break even tomorrow. If that's the case, I'll be happy. If I'm a pound down, I'll be ecstatic. If I'm over, well, we'll cross that bridge when we get to it. This isn't an exact science, but it always works over the long haul, if you stay below your RDI and your Total Daily Energy Expenditure has been even remotely accurately estimated. That's my story and I'm sticking to it. It's plain physics: you expend more calories than you take in, you lose weight, no matter what diet you're on, and regardless of whether the right stars are in alignment or not. How well you feel and whether your belly shakes like a bowl full of jelly may have something to do with what you eat, and what you do with what you eat. I keep reminding myself that muscle burns more calories even at rest than does fat, so the abuse will eventually pay off.

That's my rambling rhetoric for the evening. Toodles!

Funny DK. Simple math. All my male buddies have said exactly the same thing! Simple math. The numbers seem to lie to me. Certainly the deficits I carry don't equal the loss I record but regardless I know how to do this. I have to remind myself this isn't a race. That's it's not a destination but a journey. Don't know if I'll ever get it through my thick head though. Oh well. One day at a time!

Hope you get a good result at weigh in this morning. That stinks about the water creeping in. Our counters the other day separated from the wall - basically just enough to crack the grout. I panicked but I was reassured by many its the darn weather changes from sub zero to 40 in 48 hours. Anyways, as I ramble.... house problems suck! Hope it's not a recurring problem!

I think the simple math will always be there but my body uses algebra and calculus and has yet to figure out the unknown. If it followed simple math I'd be skin and bones by now.

Yeah, the physics are simple, but the calculations aren't always that way, because the formulas involve variables and the variables are always changing. That's why it isn't an exact science. It's still calories in and calories out, but the metabolic rate is influenced by so many factors, and oftentimes, especially in women, prediction is complex and frustrating. Don't go by the letter of the FS or internet RDI calculations; those are just a baseline for figuring your particular formula, and it still has to be adjusted as your body goes through these transformations.

With DH being home these days he was able to pull the snow away from our sliding doors on the back patio before yesterdays melt down. We got lucky. Wish he was working though instead of playing in the snow. :(
