Miss Kitteh's Journal, 16 Feb 14

I only weigh in once a week on Mondays. I start getting really nervous on the weekends because it always feels as if I haven't lost or I've gained a few pounds. It's like getting a package in the mail and you don't know what's in it.

Maybe time to check it daily? It becomes a routine instead of a trial that way. I usually accept just the lowest weight of the week when I'm in the routine.

I think it can go either way. If you weigh yourself every day, you get demotivated by natural fluctuations due to water retention and other factors. If you only weigh once a week, you can't keep yourself in check (if I am good all week, I am more likely to cheat on the weekend- but if I weigh on a Friday and see that I haven't lost weight I will be super strict on the weekend). I would weigh on Mondays and Fridays.....

I agree with Shazzy. Those natural fluctuations can demotivate. I'm not brave enough to see them register on the scale. I'm getting a sixth sense about things, like the way my clothes fit, though. Usually on Sunday night I know that Monday's number will be higher, or at least no lower. My fail is not weighing the FOOD and then getting lazy about RECORDING it, especially in the evenings. Plus, I usually over-estimate my calorie burns. And I know myself well enough to know that I will keep doing that until I get tired of seeing the results.
