Feeling better this am. Slept 9 hours soundly not restless like the night before. Did this body good. Only woke up because my alarm went off because I had to call work. Am going to try to work on my frig today. Sort of a disaster after the family was here on sat and I haven't eaten much besides leftovers since menu plan does not apply this week.. my processor will probably get a work out. Pureeing fruits and veggies to freeze for smoothies.

I started yesterday learning the excel on this new tablet by starting a pantry inventory didn't get far from the couch :)) decided to do 3 one for the pantry, one for the fridge, and one for freezers.. I hate to waste food so hopefully if I keep it up it will help with planning meals and my budget by cutting out waste

Pantry inventory - how clever!

Was reading something about how much food Americans waste each year. I hate wasting food but I do. Suggestion was to treat your home kitchen more like a good restaurant. Successful restaurants try to use everything to keep food costs under control. It brought me back to my restaurant days. Inventories were important for control of food. We used them for planning specials and dishes that went on buffets for Sunday and functions. Why not try that at home? even living alone I forget what I have and forget that I have this and that in a frig and it gets wasted. That's throwing money away as well as food.

Here is an example of where an inventory and better organization of my kitchen would be good. Decided i had to at least try to move and take care of some of the veggies in the frig found an idea in my old trusty laurel's kitchen cookbook. It has split peas and lots of veggies. Started it. Thought i had the peas. None to be found. Was glad i hadn't made my run to the corner store for dog food yet. I do need to work at it. Might find those peas i thought i had :)).
