Happy 2014 to all! Did everyone see the Google search "20134" and "20143"? I thought it was so cute!

I haven't been on in 2 weeks, or so FS says....wow, didn't think it was THAT long. Time flies, esp. around the holidays.

Time for 2014 and time to begin switching from "holiday" to "normal." Decorations are coming down little by little and the indulgence foods are dwindling. I refuse to get on the scale....at least for awhile. I can tell my clothes are a bit snug, but the good thing is that the wrinkles on my face are somewhat filled in! If it weren't for the added pounds, I'd stay at whatever weight I am right now just so my face would look better!

Such a choice.....vanity for the body or vanity for the face.....hmmmmmm.

DH has gone back to work after a goodly amount of time off. Nice to have him home, but I'm thankful for a normal routine to kick in again.

One issue reared its ugly head, though. DH's boss came to have a talk with DH about his/our retirement plans and they talked about certain specific dates. DH's retirement is either late 2015 or fall of 2016, depending on whether DH applies for a certain waiver. The key point here was that DH's boss was coming to talk about these things. Generally that means that someone else, higher up, is beginning to look at possible moves for this summer and DH's name has come up for a possible move. UGH!!!

We thought getting by last summer without a move would keep DH safe from any more moves in his career, due to his short time left, but the reality is "they" can do anything "they" want, regardless of DH's time left. There's ALWAYS a way. Hopefully not, but it looks like we may be holding our breath until May.

Oh Sandy that is something that they are giving your DH the retirement talks already. How awful! So far they haven't done that to my DH but if they do ... it's bad. My DH wants to retire in a year too. Hmmmm! It's scarey, isn't it? Glad to have you back! :)

Quite scary, esp. because we breathed a HUGE sigh of relief when he didn't get moved last year. We've relaxed a bit, as in NOT looking at every room of the house taking note of all the things necessary to get it in market condition to sell. Right now we're still cautiously optimistic, but there's still that cartoon dark rain cloud hanging off there in the not-too-distant sky - LOL!

Sometimes these things are blessings in disguise. It would certainly through uncertainty in our lives too ... but there is always Ecuador retirement. LMAO!

Hi Sandy. Nice to hear from you and yes it has been a long time. Sorry to hear about your stress. It is great to get back to 'normal' isn't it? I'm not all the way there yet, back to work on Monday and then it will be really back to normal. I enjoy being home but too much distraction and food around :)

I didn't see that - a search now doesn't show it... ah well. Welcome back and here's to 2014 being the best year ever for all of us, aye?

Equador???? Gosh, Sandy...not sure I'm THAT adventurous! But you're right about this possibly being a blessing in disguise. We've mulled over staying here in FL for retirement but were uncertain. Having to move away just might be a sign????

Hi Bren. Missed you too. DH's retirement is a good thing, it's just that we had thought this short time would make him immune to any further moves and now we're not so sure. Could be worse, I suppose....might have had to make a move right after the housing crash!!

Issy, those home distractions sure can wreak havoc with our best intentions, can't they? Just give me my nice little rut and I'm a happy camper - LOL!

Bella, it doesn't surprise me that Google switched it out. I think they change every day. Wish I were part of the team coming up with those whatever-you-call-them.....illustrations? Caricatures? Whatever they are, they're really creative! 2014 WILL be great!!!

The older I get, Ecuador retirement seems silly, but if we can't afford to retire comfortably in the States and with the prices of health care and food and gas going higher .... we will have to do something.

Oh no - not the stress of the possible relocation! But glad to hear that your clothes are only a "bit snug" as opposed to not fitting anymore (I had to go out and buy the world's stretchiest pair of jeans). Happy New Year!
