Do you like Hello Fresh?

Victoria, I got a free trial of 3 meals from my daughter. Hubby & I enjoyed them so we're going to try a few more. Some of them are higher in calories than others, so depending on your WOE it may work for you. I've devoted the largest % of my calories to my dinner meal all along so it works for me. I'm in maintenance now so I allow myself a few more calories most days.

They seem very expensive compared to buying the ingredients. But whatever works for you.nn

I have tried to figure out why this concept of mail order meals has caught on and I don’t get it. I used to do some successful investing and I have to admit this is a concept I would not have thought would fly. Is it something you would do on your own if you were not gifted it? Now that you have tried it, do you see some “value” in it considering whatever it costs— enough so that you would enroll in their program.

I can see people using these services. I look at is as a “helping hand” in the kitchen. It’s most likely much better than frozen meals and less prep than cooking from scratch. Ingredients are measured and weighed. Perhaps easy to log? Some services look expensive but once I dug into how much I personally spend on groceries for one person per week I could most likely benefit from a meal service program. I’m glad you liked it.

I probably wouldn't have gone in search of this service so yes, I tried it because of the free trial. I enjoyed having some new menu ideas since we're not eating out as often. All the food was very fresh and tasty once prepared. Everything comes premeasured in seperate bags for each meal except for a couple of things I had to add....cooking oil & butter for these recipes. I'm sure I could buy the ingredients for less but there was a convenience to having the pork & chicken cutlets already sliced thin for the recipes. We're going to try at least another week or 2.

I've done a local delivery service previously when I was on the road all the time and loved it (2-3 weeks/month0. That food was from scratch, to general diet and a good value w/little packaging. I could freeze everything but the salads. I've helped prepare a couple of the mail order type meals and while it's convenient, I think it's great for beginner chefs that aren't confident, or parents that want to cook but don't really have the time. It's just not for me. I'd rather keep my money local and do a CSA which forces me to stretch my imagination. Funny thing about the pandemic, they're always sold out almost immediately which is a good thing for the farmers and why I started going back to the fruit stand.
