Torrential rain is preventing any exercise walking today. I consider it a great feat just to have gotten the dogs fed and outside before this all began.

The pool heater is a gone-er. It lost nearly all the refrigerant in less than 24 hours. What puzzles the service guys is how it held its charge yesterday but, obviously, it had a major leak to necessitate the repair and now after. They suspect a leak in one, or both, of the major components. With a discontinued model on my hands, I don't even want to think of the difficulty in finding replacements for those items PLUS...the cost of one or both components would go a long way toward buying a nice, new gas heater. So, I suspect we'll be getting some estimates in these next few weeks to switch over to gas. We already have gas service, but it means running an extra line over to the pool equipment pad and then getting everything set up properly.

I did swim a few laps after working on the lawn late yesterday, but it's not quite as toasty as I'd like. And, after all the cloudiness and rain today, I'm sure the temperature is only going to go down.

As far as this WOE, I'm just eating low-carb. No hard restrictions. I'm tired of the hard restrictions (<20 TC). I've had spaghetti squash for dinner and felt wonderfully content after dinner....a much nicer feeling than being consumed by numbers and what I "cannot" eat. I have no idea where this is all going, but I'm OK with that right now. I'll probably change my mind in a few days, knowing the way I am. LOL!

I ate my first Florida avocado and I love it!! It IS different than a Haas one. The FL one tastes closer to a fruit than the Haas. With the Haas, I need salt on it if I'm eating it by itself, not part of guacamole or anything. But the FL one is sweeter and I wouldn't recommend using salt at all. I'll have to look up what the exact nutritional differences are. If I remember correctly, usually the Haas ones are recommended for low carb due to the higher fat content. Assuming the FL ones aren't horrible for low carb, I'll eat them as long as I can get them in season.

I've left the nutritional information for the 2 kinds of avocados in my breakfast menu for anyone to see. Pictures of California avocados look just like Haas ones, so I'm assuming the nutritional info is close. Looks like either the Haas/California or the Florida avocados would be fine for low carb. The Haas/California one IS higher in fat, giving the Haas one about 60 more calories per 4 oz., but the net carbs are similar.

So now you are getting to sample some of the world's "decadent" treasures - like spaghetti squash and avocado. How sinful!

Yuk on the expense involved in the pool heater dilemma. Glad you are upping your carbs a bit. Fingers crossed that the numbers of the scale are okay. You have to be able to 'live' a little :)

Buffy, the spaghetti squash and the avocado work just fine for me as long as I'm not planning on losing more than, oh, say, maybe a half-pound every month??? LOL! Just wish my body could handle more legal carbs, but it won't, so I gotta deal with reality. (sigh)

Bren, I like spaghetti squash since it's legal for me to eat plus it's pretty filling for just a cup. Easy to prepare too....just cut it in half (dig out the seeds) and stick it in the oven for 45 minutes or so. Supposedly, you can even microwave it, but I've never done it that way. Hope you get some sunshine soon.

Issy, right now, the scale is showing me in the 151's. I don't have the courage to record that right now....can't bear to give up the blue line - LOL! Eventually, I'll weigh in.....would be nice to wait until I can hit 149 again, though. :)
