234.0 lbs. Yay! 19 pounds in 22 days. If you look at my diet calendar, you'll see that I really haven't deprived myself at all. It's been mostly about avoiding the junk food and portion control. I've had some days where I succumbed to temptation, but stopped short of absolute gorging. I have figured out that, in times of weakness, when all else fails, turn to protein instead of carbs and fat. It's usually far less calories than the carbs or fat you would normally turn to.

Came home last night with all the intentions of running on the treadmill and doing some more painting on the cabinets. After a good helping of delicious spaghetti with meat sauce, I reluctantly and anxiously crawled up on the treadmill and completed the 1st run of stage 4; Run 7 min @ 5 mph and Walk 3 min @ 3 mph (X3) with a warmup and cool down period. Wasn't as bad as I had anticipated. I'm definitely getting stronger. Max'd out at about a 165 BPM HR, which I'm thinking is probably a "tempo" pace for me right now. Felt pretty good afterwards, but never did get to the painting. 1 out of 2 ain't that bad. I came across this little story which I thought was kind of cute.

Quote:
Jock, the painter, often would thin his paint so it would go further. So when the Church decided to do some deferred maintenance, Jock was able to put in the low bid, and got the job. As always, he thinned his paint way down with turpentine. One day while he was up on the scaffolding -- the job almost finished -- he heard a horrendous clap of thunder, and the sky opened. The downpour washed the thinned paint off the church and knocked Jock off his scaffold and onto the lawn among the gravestones and puddles of thinned and worthless paint.
Jock knew this was a warning from the Almighty, so he got on his knees and cried: “Oh, God! Forgive me! What should I do?”

And from the thunder, a mighty voice: “REPAINT! REPAINT! AND THIN NO MORE!”

Well, back to work. This is a short week because of the holiday, but they never really seem that way anymore. Toodles!
