Thanks chestnut, Claudia. I'm easily please chestnut, just amused by the 2 apps on the same phone giving me different results 😊

200 cal per hour walking is average. Both are quite accurate. Well done.

Astronomyphilly General rule of thumb. There has to be or figures would be pulled out of the air. There are lots of factors, that's why we call it average. Weight is a factor and so are weather conditions right down to what clothes you wear. Apps can't get that detailed so work on average. Apps give a good general guide and being an ex elite cyclist I can tell you averages are a fact and work well for the people that use them.

I have this problem with Samsung and map my walk, tells me different km walked different steps and different cals burned.

Thanks for the support and input Astro and Ricardo. DaniR it just goes to show it's all best guess unless you're hooked up to a load of monitors 😊

Chestnut has a point away back at the start of the comments. Don't forget to factor in your own on-board computer: how you felt, were you sweating, out of breath, focused or just going through the motions, did you walk inclines and declines etc etc. And most important, did you enjoy it and want to do it again!

it's strange how apps register differently. least they give us some idea of what we are/aren't doing. I know i cant trust most of what I use as they dont acknowledge the weight of my boots (1-2kg each).

I feel ok with just getting out for 45 - 60 minutes, I try not to take it ok seriously so was bemused by my 2 apps, like a said to Chestnut I'm easily pleased Anne, but enjoy is probably too strong a word for it 😁 I need to do it. Belial, get lighter boots !

Haha, I did once swap the heavy boots for Doc Martin's... I gained a stone in a month... Went back to the new rocks and lost it in 2 weeks. So I'll keep them until my knees give up on me😂
