Usual hot, sticky day on the coast. Doggies and I only went a mile today....I almost decided to not take them out at all, as it was already so hot and uncomfortable. By the time I got the mile finished up and brought the dogs inside, a lawn contractor showed up, so I just hung around until he got done. Then, I spent 30 minutes lap swimming in the pool....MUCH more comfortable than walking any more distance!

I have slightly more than 3 weeks left on my Labor Day Blitz. I probably should have set it up as a challenge for others to join if they wanted. I had 6 weeks when I began and so far, so good. It could be tight for me to re-hit my goal by then, but I'm still on a reasonable path (not like trying to lose 15 pounds in 2 weeks!). I DO like short-term goals like setting myself up for a specific weight target for THIS week. The short-term goal keeps me motivated and focused and not overwhelmed by the entire amount I want to lose.

I still plan on having minimal food beyond meat and eggs. Some other foods? Sure, but very small quantities. DH is going through another one of his "this doesn't taste right" phases. This time, he thought the Swiss cheese he had sliced up for his snacks "tasted funny." He passed it along to the dogs and me. Well, I'm not really having cheese right now, but I tested out 2 pieces of it this morning and it seems perfectly fine to me.....I think his taste buds are "off" again. It shouldn't be too hard for me to incorporate small amounts of that cheese over the next week so I won't have to throw it out.

Did everyone hear? There might be an upcoming bacon shortage due to some infection/illness that's affecting pigs/hogs. Stock up now!!!!

EDIT: Food today also has 1 wedge of DH's dinner concoction...a quesadilla thing made with low-carb tortilla (Mission), some grilled chicken, various peppers, and a bit of cheese. He made 8 wedges and I had 1 of them. All in all, it should still keep carbs fairly low, even though the Mission tortilla has high carbs (low NC) with lots of fiber (supposedly...) and calories should still be low as well.

Bren, I haven't tried that brand. I can really get into a nice, tasty ham! We have a Wal-Mart close by, so I'll have to take a look. And, yes, it was so much nicer splashing around in the pool today! Some days I have to remind myself to take advantage of that nice water right out there in the backyard. :)

Sounds like you are on track; nice to have the pool to work out in when it's too hot. Do the doggies get in at all? Good luck on meeting your own personal challenge though luck isn't a factor, is it, you are doing what you need to do - good job :)

Issy, my Lab gal will swim right along with me if I encourage her. She'll even retrieve things thrown in the water too. My Collie guy is just a lounger, lying in a 9" deep area (sun shelf/Baja shelf), being careful to keep his tail lifted above the surface of the water - LOL! It's pretty funny. We can go through at least 4 towels getting the pair of them dried off after they go in, so they don't always get to go in as often as THEY would like. :)

Good job on the exercise in spite of the weather. Can't wait to see your challenge. Have a great weekend, Sandy. Hug those dogs for me.

Thanks for the info Sandy - I can totally see the collie lying on the shelp. Guess he wants to keep his bum dry if he keeps his tail up - funny - and I didn't think of the drying process, all that doggie hair would definitely need dried, on both of them, before they could go back in the house. A lot of work - lol - so no wonder they don't get in as often as THEY want to :)

You are doing fantastic! And I just love the idea of your "Labor Day Blitz". Mini goals are such useful tools!

Heather, those doggies won't let me NOT hug them! LOL!

Issy, my Collie loves the water so much that he used to frustrate his foster mom (he was in rescue before we adopted him) who was actually a dog groomer. She'd get him all nice, clean and brushed out for prospective adopters and the moment she'd let him out in the yard, he'd hop into one of those big plastic baskets/buckets with the rope handles that she had full of water for all the dogs to drink from. Somehow, he'd maneuver that big ol' body of his completely into that basket, totally messing up all that beautiful work she had put into his coat. Of course, next on his list was a great run-around and rolling in the yard. Eventually, she'd laugh. :) At least he now has a little more self-restraint. LOL!

Buffy, it just seemed like a reasonable time period and goal marker. Gotta focus for this last half of the Blitz and make it happen!!!
