I had the BEST time in Zumba class today! Gina Grant was the instructor, and she is totally awesome; fun, professional, gives personal attention where needed, has the most incredible moves & body and ENERGY! I caught that energy & threw it back out there.... we all had a great time.
She called me out in this one dance where she splits the room in half, and calls one person from each side out to lead there half in a short dance out and back, alternating between sides. She gestured to me, I shook my head "no", she gestured again, and I was out there; at first I did some simple steps & then the turn turned into a strange spin (must be from that ballet dancer I've been reading about, lol), with arms up, around. I laughed so hard at myself I about peed, lol. One of my older buddies gave me a high-five. :o)
The surprising thing about all this is that when I saw the podiatrist on Monday, I discovered I have capsulitis of the second toe, and am now wearing a custom orthotic & CANNOT go barefoot at all. Well, except for in the shower, ha ha. The darn thing hurts, but it gave me the support needed in BodyPump & CXWORX yesterday & to have a great time in Zumba this morning. I wear it for a week & then back to the podiatrist, to see if it's healing or if I need to have a cortisone injection in the base of that toe, OUCH.
I've been doing OK with my eating, snacking too much but making fairly healthy choices. I do need to add more fruits and veggies; a few baby carrots, a pear, banana, etc, and dried plums, baby pineapple, and so on aren't what my body needs. I feel better when I eat more veggies; I plan on getting a jicama & cutting it up, as well as cucumbers, little tomatoes, raw zucchini; all kinds of good munchies. Grapes, strawberries, all ready for a quick snack or dessert.
I think I'll go do some stretches before this darn meeting I have to go to here at my apartment; there are changes in how things are being operated and they are having a big meeting to explain everything. There are generally all sorts of stupid questions, argumentative stuff, that makes you want to ....take a deep breath and check in with my body (you thought I was going to say "scream", right? Darn, just did!).
