Sherillynn's Journal, 30 Apr 13

Wonderful past couple of days! And the icing on the cake (no pun intended) is that I lost another 2.5#!

I spent time in Michigan and I was lucky enough to stay with my best friend and her husband. They are also dieting and are watching carbs so the eating arrangements were perfect.

I did have one day where I ate out. Planned on not restricting carbs completely, and still had weight loss. Life is good!

I am officially at a 20# weight loss as of today. That is 1/3 of my total goal. I am thrilled. More than thrilled even. You know, I had hoped to be losing it faster. I think everyone, myself included, has this unreal expectation of how fast they are going to lose. Then reality sets in. Its slow. Its painful. And at times, it just AIN'T fun.

But in all of those little stumbles and stalls, I have come to realise that if I work harder for something, I appreciate it more. I know myself. If I got that weight loss instantly, I'd gain it back, because after all, it isn't THAT hard. So slower is better. Suffering builds character.

And through the suffering part, I have learned about being persistant. So, in another 5 months, around October, I should be down another 20#. That puts me at the 2/3 mark. This project will take more than a year at that rate.

The benefits will be staggering. I think I will post them for my own benefit, just so I don't lose sight of them.

Benefits:
1- look better
2- feel better
3- lower blood pressure
4- lower blood sugar
5- better heart health
6- less joint pain
7- more clothing choices
8- more self esteem and confidence
9- more energy

Please feel free to tell me any benefits you think I might be missing. Today, I am keeping my eyes on the prize! (benefits being the prize).

Blessings to all.

Good for you! I know what you mean by wanting it to happen faster. Slow is hard but as long as we keep with it we eventually will get there. I think by making your goal over a longer period of time is wise. Congrats on your realistic goals and progress!
