Sandy701's Journal, 18 Apr 13

Another quick entry. It's kind of surprising that none of my buddies is online right now - usually that only happens very late at night or on weekends. (OK, Raven & Issy popped on in between the beginning and ending of this entry - :)).

There's a purebred Collie up for "rehoming" on CraigsList; I have to keep telling myself that I need another dog like a hole in the head. Still......."Walk AWAY from the posting," I have to tell myself.

I'm heading out to do some of the first lawn/yard work of the season. It needs to be done and I'm hoping to begin the process in advance of tomorrow's all-day rain event. I'm also hoping to drop this pesky pound, as I used to drop a pound after almost every day of yardwork. "Used to" being the key phrase.

I'm trying to work my way around why I'm seemingly stuck where I am. I know that the small amounts of peanuts and peanut butter have to stop. I get into a part of the day when I'm trying NOT to have a meal or snack, but then end up popping a few nuts or a dollop of PB into my mouth instead.....that's not helping!!! And I somehow need to get that through my thick skull. Trying to force myself through hunger just leads me to grab a small thing here or there that, while technically legal, just throws my carbs and calories right where I'd be (or higher) if I didn't do that, but stopped and had a proper meal or snack. Plus, my overall nutrition would be better.

Oh well, no one said Maintenance would be any easier than weight loss...just a different set of issues and problems.

Yesterday, I took about 7 or 8 pair of jeans into the thrift shop as a donation. I'd been keeping them, sizes 18 and 20, for heaven only knows why. But, unlike so many of the other donations I've made of my too-big clothes, I still felt an urge to keep these. Maybe because the "right" pants are so hard to find? I don't know. But even if I were swollen from some kind of future surgery, I can't imagine needing those sizes and so it's time to move them along. I almost kept them in the car as I arrived for my volunteer shift, but forced myself to take them in and get rid of them. I've got about 6 pair of dressier slacks that will get consigned, a few of them probably tomorrow when I get to pick up my check from other things that have sold.

This weight loss journey certainly isn't just about the pounds.

Oh boy, do I hear you on ALL of it! Even the walk away from the collie that needs a new home. I Still have big sizes too. I look at them everyday, they are on an open shelf above my current sizes, someday I will post pic of my "closet", that is sure to give everybody a feel good, that at least they don't have That many clothes...LOL, anyway, I don't want to get rid of them yet...not sure why, exactly, mostly, I think I like looking at them everyday as they are a constant reminder of why the daily struggle you wrote about is sooooo worth fighting! Maintenance of any sort is proving to be just as hard, if not harder than losing the pounds! ps, I am so jealous you get to do yardwork...we still have an itsy bitsy bit of snow yet & soooo much rain water that the ducks will be swimming in my backyard pretty darn soon if this keeps up!

I have a few jeans I need to take to my sister's..may do that when I go down for my niece's birthday..Took a bunch of stuff to my other sister that she should be able to get into before long..You would think my closet would be empty..NOT...There are lots of clothes I need to go through that are just hanging there and not worn for one reason or another...Its hard to not take a dog in..I love them all..I really think maintaining is harder than losing..We are just starting to do some yard work too...Love the smell of fresh cut grass...Enjoy it..:O)

Sizes 18 and 20 - LOL You had better donate them. If you ever get that big again I am sure they'll be hopelessly out of style. I'm missing everybody on FS. I just got home from another 10 hour work day. My boss promises me he will hire another person soon. He has been putting this off for about a month. BTW - I feel your pain on that dog - I wanted to keep that black lab puppy in the worse way but reality intervened.

GG....hope no ducks get in the way of GG & Bella!!! We probably have similar closets....might need a wide-angle lens to capture everything!

Bren, I'd love to smell that fresh-cut grass smell....somehow, even when freshly cut, the grass just doesn't smell like anything down here. I think it must be defective earth - LOL!

Buffy, "out of style" never keeps me from wearing something! I'm developing into a caricature of they typical little ol' lady...well, maybe not little. Anyway, I hope that boss of yours gets his act in gear to get you some help! Ten-hour days on a regular basis doesn't do anyone any good...besides.....we miss you on FS!!!
