liv001's Journal, 16 Oct 19

Have had a nice Thanksgiving weekend. Got in some nice fall walks in the woods and had lots of turkey. Good time with family.

Scale was a bit of a whoosh (to 115.8) from the around 117 it had given me the last week. So as I am recording it as it is a low "record" for me. I am doing my thing still this month making sure my metabolism is fine by eating more food but I am still keto for the most part.

Trail walking picture for October and a little muscle pic in case some people worry I am just skin and bones. But nah one can keep muscle mass on keto just fine.

we are the same weight pretty much! my arms don't look like that though haha you most be such a tone version of me. I only moderate food and try to take long walks. Turkey sounds deliscious. My tofu is a little jealous admittedly

Thank you for taking the time. I am not into body building either but do realize the importance of strength training as I get older. I am trying to avoid going to the gym and just want to exercise at home. I am very impressed by your success and I'm very happy for you! Now if I could just have those arms I would be a lot happier!

So true about strength exercising and aging. And the sooner you start the better. I do not have a gym membership either. I use the rec centre some days a week. I take yoga classes from them and swim a bit. Lots you can do at home. That is where most of my workouts are - and the walking, running and biking outdoors... sort of pleasure more than workout the latter.

Your post is so inspiring Liv001. I tried to join a strength exercising class near me and it was cancelled due to lack of enrollment. I was so disappointed. What resources did you use to learn it? I'm mid 50's and looking to build some lean muscle mass to prevent aging joints and muscles. I've tried everywhere but Goodlife Fitness, maybe I should pop down now to see if they offer classes in the evenings after work. This is exactly the type of strength exercising I need to learn.

Goodlife here have some classes. If you have one close and it something you can affort or your work help you pay for it... go for it. Even without classes they have plenty of equipment and weights that you can use. It may seem intimidating at first but start with simple things and you can learn it. I have some light weights at home that I have bought over the years and I use those. I watch You Tube, borrow exercise videos from the library and go from there. Important and fundamental exercises like pushup, squat and lunge require nothing to get started with. Good luck Orly. You will not regret working on strength!!!!
