UK cats's Journal, 11 Oct 19

Ugh, what is going on with my metabolism? I'm measuring and tracking everything to make sure I'm not getting sneaky calories by guesstimating intake. Generally staying within a range of 950-1150 calories per day, drinking lots of water and walking at least 10,000 steps 5-6 days a week.
The scale was stuck at 151 for days, then up 4 lbs overnight to 155, back down to 152 and holding steady for the last three days. Then this morning...149!!! I got on and off the scale 5 different times just to make sure. I do weigh myself every morning and I'm in suspense as to what tomorrow's number will be.
Just putting this out there so I will have a record of it since I have not been logging these crazy swings.

UK, I have found that my body does something similar. Usually...when I have a real weight drop (fat not water), I go back up a couple pounds, then back down a little, plateau at that slightly higher weight for a couple few days, and then I’ll have a drop under that first weight. It can be really frustrating, but when you start to understand your body’s way of doing things, it isn’t as distressing. I don’t record my weight on FatSecret everyday, but I do record it in my notes on my phone and it has helped me so much to be able to look back and see my body’s weight loss pattern. Keep up the great work and don’t get discouraged! 💕😊

You are working so hard, UK! The getting stuck or having swings here and there for no good reason is so frustrating... Well, the swings down are lovely! Hoping it holds now... If not, it will shortly! 😁

Bodies do that. As fat is drained from fat cells, often they re-fill with water; then take days to let go of the water. In maintenance, the weight will still kink up and down.

understand your frustration...been there. sounds like your metabolism has hit preservation mode...have you considered intermittent "fasting"? it worked for me...helped me get over a plateau a couple of times. I'm no expert, that's for sure, but I'm "older" and do not have a fast metabolism at my best...but for me, around 1300 to 1500 cal one or two days, then a very minimal cal day, 500 to 700 cal, then a higher cal day again; never having two very low cal days together. always weigh on my own scale, always weigh nude. Good luck to you! Stay positive!!! You got this!!!
