I lost another 1/2 pound. It’s hard having company in your home, for weeks. I’m slowly losing weight, but it’s hard when you have 2 grandchildren running around the house asking for food and snacks constantly. Not use to having kids around my house in the last 16 years. My daughter and her family are in a transition move to another state. Military life. They won’t have any housing for a month, so they are staying with us, until they leave in mid August. I have no idea what these kids like to eat. So I have plenty of food in the house with fruits and vegetables for them to eat. Yesterday, the grandchildren found cake mix in the cupboard and were asking me to make cupcakes. Oh geez, cake! My big weakness. I have to think about fixing something healthy for them. Plus, I know my husband will eat a good portion of the cupcakes. He’s the diabetic, and eats everything that’s sweet. I am trying my best to keep it simple and healthy. My daughter is still finicky with food. She always likes meat and salad for dinner, that’s what we already eat, which makes it easy. I’m in a bind feeding all these people in my house. Not that I have to cook for everyone, but I think my daughter loves that I step in and feed the kids. I have to feed my husband and myself, so I just fix extra portions for the rest of the family. Thank goodness it’s summer because we BBQ all of the meat. Less fatting when it’s grilled, plus I can put vegetables in aluminum foil and cook it on the grill. I’m just exhausted with everyone here after one week, and I still have 3 more weeks with my family staying with us. Just not physically in shape with all these people here. My back surgery last year really slowed me down. Just not sure how to handle everything. Ahhh!

Grandchildren can certainly be a handful, I have done my share of entertaining them...Now I have the teen grandchildren and you hardly see them they are always doing something, sports, sports and more sports...lol One will be getting her drivers license at the end of the month and her Dad is buying her a car so now we will never see her....hahahhha Her sister on the other hand is only 13 yr. old and a star baseball player... So I certainly sympathize with you about having to feed and entertain them.. At least it is summer and they can play outdoors and amuse themselves. Just take one day at a time and all will work out well, if your summer is moving as fast as mine is then it won't be long and you will have your house to yourselves and then you can get back on track... it is hard when you have company around.. It gets that way when we socialize with others on our boat or there boat everyone seems to want the snacks and its hard to say no. Sorry to hear about your back, it's not a great thing to have surgery, my husband has had back surgery and it has never been the same since... I walk a lot and try to keep in shape but my back sometimes gives me problems and I just have to keep on moving or else I sieze up, I started using weights now and it is hard on my back but I'm hoping that it also strengthens it too. Good luck with your family and remember it will soon be over and then you may just miss them....sometimes that's the case...

Yes, I will miss them when they leave. I only see the kids around once every year or so. Their military life keeps them far away from us. They grow up too fast. Those teen age years are hard on all family members. I remember what it was like with my daughter in sports. Just glad we put up the pool up for the kids this summer. They have been swimming every day since they arrived. Outside activities are endless at our house.
