Fatboy199's Journal, 20 Jul 19

Its been about 2 weeks since I re-dedicated myself to my overall health and continued weight loss. I love the simplicity of fatsecret and the ability to monitor my food and activity. I have had a good 2 weeks and my weight has steadily dropped.

Of course, fatsecret could be better but you could say that about many things. I don't understand Keto, and even though it seems to work for many people, I believe that balance and moderation is the key. Especially as we start aging.
I see a lot of drama on this sight lately. People behaving poorly and sharing inappropiate things that do not belong here. Which in turn, prompts people to respond with a myriad of comments and opinions.
I am sure that this type of drama isn't very productive and ruins the communal spirit of the purpose of this site.
What I love to see are the many folks who like myself, are struggling with weight issues, sharing and supporting each other to assist to better ourselves and improve our health.
Obesity is no joke! Trust me...the loneliness of being overweight can be all-encompassing.
Yesterday, one of our fatsecret's more successful young ladies was attacked for posting a picture of herself at the gym. It prompted a lot of ugliness by a very immature person.
Her contributions are simple, straightforward and totally doable. She's proven it! Watch what you eat, log what you eat, exercise and stay consistent. REPEAT! It's all in the process.

Unfortunately, we have people sharing their personal lives, their hangups, their demons and more.
We have people who are crying for attention, and many folks who I believe are earnestly trying to be helpful giving advise in return. Which only exasperates the situation when the original poster is offended by the comments. The drama is so unnecessary and counterproductive.
If you see a post that rankles you or your sensibilities...just move along. Focus! Focus on why you came here and what your purpose for being here is.
Me? I am a mess physically. I am fat and have been fat most of my life, but seeing folks like myself come together to share their struggles, share their process and hopefully their success is nothing short of awesome!
Remember why you came here and started your journey.
Enjoy your journey.
Repeat!

I think post in your journals what you wish. I know I do, if someone responds or reads them it is up to them. Most of my journals are written to myself. I have posted a couple memes lately because they reminded me of things my friends here would like. It's the hurtful words that people sometimes respond to the thoughts one posts I think that cause the drama. Over the years I have chosen to ignore them as sometimes people are so unhappy in their own lives they have to try to drag others down to match their own. I assume they may not even be aware they are doing that so I shrug them off and do not respond directly to them or about their post. If a member is toxic to me I don't respond or read many of their posts.

FS is not just about weight loss, I think it is about health. Health is mind, body, spirit. I love FS to help with meal planning. Seeing the calorie and macros of others meals, takes out alot of guesswork. I am all over this post. I have never been on a forum with this degree of drama. At the same time, FS is a very intimate setting since people do share deep things. So, I guess it is bound to happen. I don't like the sales pitches and promotion of others WOE. WOE should be customized per person. A lot of drama when people over promote or disapproves of WOE. Definitely MYOP. Or, when people self proclaiim themselves as experts. Like you said, it isn't their job. Folks should remember that isn't why they should be here. When you think of everyone you know, which two people are the same? No one. Not even twins. Everyone is unique and for that, folks should respect not everyone is loke them. I do believe tho, bullies should be called out when appropriate.

WholeFoodNut, you are amazing! So glad that you have found your true self, because I believe that no one can achieve permanent weight loss unless they come to terms with the underlying causes of their initial weight gains. FS is a phenomenal website made up of a fantastic group of people!
