crabby Kat's Journal, 02 Jan 13

I got a new cell phone; I feel like a kid at Christmas! I liked & was comfortable with my old one, but it was over two years old. The new one is lighter and faster & my FS app is even better on it, lol.

I also got a new belt since some of my size 10s are getting loose. :o) I saw my primary care doc on New Years Eve & she was pleased that I had lost a few more pounds in a month. I discussed my partner's concern that I was getting too thin; she asked me how much more I wanted to lose, & I told her I would like to try 128, just to see what the 120s feel & look like.

She said that should be fine; just pay attention to my energy level. She also told me to pay attention to my partner ; that those of us closest to us can have a clearer picture of how we look than we do ourselves. Then she said that as we get older, our bodies can lose muscle mass and if we have too little body fat, we can look a bit "Auschwitz ". I told her I've been working on the muscles, I have a fair amount of body fat, and I eat 2000 calories a day, at least. She said "that's a lot ", then "but how much are you burning? She laughed when I told her that my average was 162 calorie deficit per day; apparently she has other patients that could tell her that about themselves, and knows how well keeping track works.

I have to schedule an ultrasound; I had one day of really bad stomach pain & nausea. After discussion, she decided it could have been a gall stone, though I've never had any before. Apparently losing a bunch of weight can bring them on ; I thought that was only from fasting or extreme dieting.

Oh, I tried something g new this weekend ; had my face threaded. I have a fair amount of fine facial hair; not
terribly noticable, but I wanted to have a totally smooth face. It's cool to have a smooth face, though the process was a bit painful. My problem is that my skin is so sensitive that my face broke out in an itchy rash & I've had to use cortisone cream. So much for a totally smooth face, unless I want to spend hours & $$$ with an electrologist.

All is well; going to Zumba this morning.

Never heard of face threading - will have to look that up. Hope the ultrasound is good and you feel better soon. I went through the 'you're losing too much' the last time because I traveled so much everytime MH would see me it shocked him ~ that may be what your partner is feeling by being gone over the holidays. I remember the pointy hip bone conversation - tell them I have the same thing (pointy bone) even at my weight so it's not a 'thin' thing. Yes, it is too bad that at 'our' age as we get thin our face looks 'old' and drawn ~ I always look much 'younger' when I'm fatter but that's because 'fat don't crack.' Right now I have more wrinkles than the latest Senate budget. Take care of you. Get better soon!
