Need practical advice on handling constipation caused by dieting. I feel like I’ve tried everything...prunes, miralax, tons of water, probiotics and on and on. Its stalling any weight loss progress and is simply annoying. What have you done that works? :)

Go walk around Walmart. It's weird, but I can NOT go in that stupid store without having to run to the bathroom 5 minutes after I get there. No matter what time of day, or when I went last. And, of course, the bathroom is at the farthest end of the store from wherever I am. It's some sort of psychological phenomenon. Seriously though, sometimes gentle exercise helps get things moving.

Have you tried Magnesium?

I’ve always had this issue with dieting or without, when I make my smoothies I put in 2 tbsp of flax seed and psyllium husk from the bulk barn in it. When I had my yogurt I also stir in flax seed as well and drink lots of water, you should be able to notice the difference pretty quick.

magnesium 200-400mg/ day. cheated helps your muscles relax and can also help with lack of sleep.

I put fiber powder in my breakfast smoothies and I don't have any problems. The last time I was on a diet I suffered terribly with constipation. This time around I don't have any problems.

Increase your fiber. Pick fruits and veggies high in fiber. Use a fiber powder in your drinks or on food. I have a fiber + probiotic powder I add to my shakes.

Eat lots of veggies and drink lots of water and then move around-- walking whatever. Generally the fiber in the veggies gets things moving and the water allows things to move along the intestine and finally moving around allows the Peristalsis muscles to work better.

Moral ax is natural, works with your body. Is gentle, I take it every day but I do reduce the recommended dose

Miralax

(Lmao about the Walmart thing, and yet soooooo true!) I use Phillips, Miralax has never worked for me... The key is to chug as much water as you can to wash it down or it doesn't work and definitely take it before you go to bed or you'll think you have to go and won't be able to. Also, don't take it too many times or you won't be able to "go" without the aid of a laxative! Good luck!!

Your body requires water, magnesiium and potassium to aid with regularity. Are you getting sufficient! Your body can become laxative addicted if you continue to use it regularly. You might try a stool softener and look at your MICROS. GOOGLE is your friend. Check it out.

I use an opioid for diabetic neuropathy. A small glass of apple juice before bed works for me as well as working for a late nite snack.

Thanks for all the suggestions! I’ve tried several of them already and will try the others. My goal is to not get dependent on any meds and find the proper balance naturally. Thanks again!
