DS107's Journal, 09 Dec 18

Hi everyone! I need some advise regarding my mysterious weight gain. I'm been on Keto for the last year and I've lost 80 +/- pounds. I keep my carbs to 20 or less per day. For the last two month I've limited my calories as well. I'm allotted 1600 (per MACRO's), but most of the time I'm right around 1200. During the last two months weight has gone up & down approx. 8 pounds. I'm not sedentary, I walk approx. 2 to 5 miles every day, so-says the Fitbit anyway. My Keto strips read 15 to 40 every day. Sometimes even higher. I'm not lifting, so I'm not building muscle. If you can help, please do so. I'm confused. Thanks everyone.

Could be carbs sneaking in, could be excessive protein, could be your metabolism dropping because you are eating too few calories and it thinks you are sick. Eating less calories on Keto is not always a way to lose weight. On the positive possibilities, women on Keto are know to gain muscle lost from unhealthy eating and regain bone density. You dont need to be lifting weights to gain more muscle, just regular exercise like it sounds like you are doing. Since this seems to have started when you cut your calories, you might want to experiment and go back to your normal calorie intake and see if your metabolism returns to normal. Congratulations on losing 80 lbs - that is awesome!

try bumping up your calories, weight does tend to stall when you are too low for your needs. and you may want to look closer at your macro's. having artificial food can also cause issues along with foods that you may be sensitive to.

Thank you for your responses. I've heard that too much protein can cause weight gain, but it just doesn't make sense. I'm going to reduce my protein again and try that. As for calories, again I understand the science, but it goes against everything I've been told. "Starve the body, it will use its' reserve." What I'm hearing is if you starve your body, it will start storing fat, right? I just checked my Macros, body fat, age, gender, weight, height, and BMI, I must keep my intake of calories to less than 1871 per day to lose weight. Protein - 155 g, Carbs 25 g, Fat 128 g.
