Walked 3.1 miles along the lake route with both doggies this morning. It was in the low 70's with cloud cover and a breeze, so I thought the doggies, esp. my Lab, could go the entire route with me. Of course, they were panting when we got home, but I relented and let them go into the pool to cool off......now I'm their "best bud" for life! LOL!!

Thrift store volunteering for me this afternoon, then a quick trip to Wal-Mart.

DH finally got the lime green bedroom cleared out over the weekend, but it was too late (IMO) for me to tackle that project. He worked on getting some bad wall patches repaired the proper way, but I found 6 more (!!!) yesterday when I washed the walls. They were up above the closet doors which is why we didn't see them earlier. Looks like they had some sort of long sign or banner put up along the entire span.

With everything out of the room, we can also see just how badly stained the carpet is in places (previous owners, not us - LOL!). I'll try cleaning it up after painting, but it may need to be replaced. Anyway, tonight I may try to do some trim painting to cover the green and yellow paints that have found their way onto the trim where they don't belong. If not tonight, then tomorrow, when there's nothing else on my schedule.

On the WOE front....I have a working theory right now that when one goes into Maintenance and the proportion of foods changes, even slightly, that one's body re-hydrates a bit....which, of course, can add a couple pounds. We all know that when we start Atkins, there's a good bit of water that leaves our bodies and that, as we progress, we're always in a very slightly dehydrated state. What I'm thinking is that as we go from "weight loss" into a state of equilibrium, our bodies add back that water.

I'm seeing this issue with myself right now and I've seen this happen to one or 2 others who've hit their goal and then, in maintaining and seemingly without other reason, bounced up, 3, 4, or 5 pounds. Of course, sadly, there aren't a whole lot of folks hitting their goals and staying on site to either prove or disprove this.

What this may mean is that if my goal is 145 and I intend to stay right there, I may have to drop to, say, 140-142, or maybe even a bit lower, in order to add back the water and still maintain at 145.

This is all just my theory right now. Time will tell whether this is a reasonable theory or just wishful thinking.

Sandy - You know you have accomplished something when you tire out your dogs! As for your theory - sounds right to me. A "normal" person's weight bounces up and down. DH is amazed that I can weigh exactly the same every morning (rounded to nearest pound). As for the Maintenance group, I for one know I have to be here for life - or all that weight is going to climb right back on!

Buffy, luckily my dogs can exist with reasonable exercise. When on vacation, my BIL and wife have a dog (Lab/pit bull?/boxer?/Energizer bunny?) that was the highest energy dog I've ever seen!!! He was in and out of the boat, swimming WAY out into the lake multiple times, running up and down the banks of the lake, and just, in general, on-the-go for HOURS! Once back at the house, he laid down for a few minutes but then was up and around again, rarin' to go. Better my family members, than me! I couldn't begin to manage all that energy.

OOOOh sounds like your doggies had a good time and then can get in the pool lucky they are...I have a least 15 more to go and then start my maintenance..but I am really going to have to get with it before that happens..and your theory sounds like a great plan...some dogs can go all day long and others not..I like you I couldn't handle one with too much energy...have a fun time at Wal Mart..I just came from there and spent too much..but they had some cute jackets with fleece lining and I just had to have 2 of them...LOL...:O)

Bren, I always end up with just a few extra items than are on my list. Sometimes a clearance item is just too good to pass by.
