Again this is a cancer survivor site. I have no idea if this is for the general popular or not. I do know it is for those like me. I even asked my oncology nurse and she said if I was going below 1200 at any point then yes my body will react by storing fat. I tried to kill it with chemo. It doesn’t understand why just knows it doesn’t want to die so stored more fat. You may not agree it’s a thing but it IS for some of us. I’ve lived it. I ate very little for 2 months and gained weight while on chemo. Then I ate like a horse for 2 months and gained about the same. The body is amazing and adapts. Though it sucks for me when I drop low and it decides I’m killing it again. Supposedly based on what one of my surgeons said, it’ll get a bit better in about 8-9 months as long as I try to keep steady, which I’m usually not doing.

Two of the articles I had saved on the topic ;). Can’t find the medical journal one that was about a study that I could barely understand lol.
