"I'll take a "Tuesday"....with a side order of "excessive heat" please..."

3.2 miles walked today; dogs along for a mere .8 miles due to the heat...92 degrees as I finished up and it wasn't even 10AM. Sheesh! Pool felt great, even though it was a bit cooler than I'd typically like it. I guess I was so hot, I raised the temp of the water to the temp I liked - LOL!

I tried on a few swim separates I had ordered from Lands End. Some are just fine, some need to be returned for a different size, one up and one down, so go figure! I received my first pair of size 8 shorts (!!!) off of eBay, and I bought a size Medium pair of shorts from the thrift store yesterday....a Medium??? I'm in shock. Wouldn't have even tried them, but when I held them up, I thought they looked just about like my 10's and 12's at home. Both pair of shorts fit, but the 8 is fitted....not snug, but fitted. It will be perfect for walking but I'll still keep my 10's and 12's for general wear.

Our rescheduled vacation is coming up in August so I'm beginning to make plans for what needs to get done, and on what days, to make sure we're ready to go. I just realized that DH has an eye appointment the day before we leave! His appointment requires me to drive him to work and then from work to the appointment and then home. It's normally not that big a deal, but having to set aside the time for that on the day I'm usually running around like a chicken with my head cut off doing all those last-minute tasks, means I need to move some of those tasks to another day - if I can.

It is so hot here, that walking is out of the question unless I go at midnight. When I went to bed at 1 am, it was still 87 degrees! Just crazy! I have been praying for rain...it is so dry the grass is crunchy, the ground is cracked, and the trees (some that are 25 years old and older) are wilted. So sad. Congrats on the medium size in the shorts...and a size 8??? WOW!!!! I can only dream about that, but I will dream! Have a great day, and try to stay cool! HUGS!!

Yes. Early or late. No middle of the morning walks for us here! I walked about 3 miles this morning around 7:00 am. It wasn't too bad - warm breese! However - the city crews were oiling & chatting more of our subdivision roads. Yucky smell! Size 8? I forgot what that is like! Sigh!

Thanks Stef. I'm sure the 8s are from the more current sizing regimen and not like the 8s of "old!" Just the other day I tried on a knit summer dress that was a 9/10 and it was still too snug to be worn. Of course, the dress is over 20 years old and even made in America with the garment-makers' union label! I'm so hoping you get some nice showers that can put a dent in that drought.....maybe your veggies and melons would like that!

W4....bet you wish that breeze blew in the opposite direction so you didn't have to smell that yucky stuff!Sizing is always so exasperating....I think we should all just have a bunch of labels made up with whatever size number we'd like and then we can have them put in everything we own. It would make about as much sense - LOL!

Wow Sandy..you rock to walk in that kind of heat..thats why I use my treadmill..not as much fun as out side but not as sweaty for me..LOL..but if I had a pool that may be another story..Hope you get all your things done before your vacation..You will..as you are a very persistant person..Have a great evening..:O)

Bren, I'm about at my upper limit for temps to walk in. I would generally stop at 91 or 92 degrees....don't know why that number and not 90, but I guess one day I probably got really, really hot and looked at the thermometer and it was 91 or 92 degrees - LOL! I pushed it to 94 the other day, although I think that should NOT be a regular thing. Even today at 92 had me feeling just a bit "off" during the last half of the walk. I'll have to check your journal again to see if you got a callback from your doctor about that MRI. Enjoy your night!

The time of day really makes a difference - no matter what the hot temperature reads. There always seems to be a pleasant breeze both in the very early morning - say 6:30 & in the evening - around 8:00 pm. The angle of the sun "beating down" as opposed to its relative position on the horizon makes all the diference to me. The important thing is that we are not using the heat to avoid exercising. Keep the faith!

W4, my DH keeps telling me about how much cooler it would be if I walked earlier in the day....it's his way of subtly prodding me to go early. Easy for him to say, as he's up at 5:15 and at work by 7. Not so easy for me, who has always been more of a second-shifter, or night owl. But, of course, by evening, I can come up with a million excuses why I "can't" go then. Believe me, if I can come up with an excuse not to go, I will. That's why I need to go, even in the heat, before I can come up with an excuse not to!

Hi Sandy.....congrats on making your goal by the way! What a great journey, you are a good encouragement. I'll be watching your maintenance journey; that seems to be the tricky one but you have obviously made life changes over the past two years that will sustain you. Good job!
