Too hot in the office to eat and too hot outside to eat so my lunch will either have to wait and become my supper or not become anything at all. Just saying i cant eat when i am this hot.

Oh.. that's not a good thing. No air in the office today?

Cathy, its been like this for a week and they are having a hard time getting it fixed. they would replace it but that will take at least 8 weeks because the work has to be sent out for bid. so fans and "make-shift" units are what we are using but it aint helping much with 90 deg weather outside. we have one dept upstairs and they said its like a sonna up there.

can you eat something really cold when your hot? Like frozen melon, frozen green beans, a little greek yogurt, a frozen protein shake?

Oooooh, that sucks. Hope they get it solved soon!

I was just going to write what Lisarenn wrote. Well, I didn't think about the green beans, but really cold melon, yogurt and shake/smoothie sounds good when the temp is that high. And don't forget ice water, essential that you stay hydrated.

If you ice the insides of your wrists it will cool you down, too. My house is 85 right now - can't get the swamp cooler up and running until tomorrow as it needs a little extra maintenance. I feel for you that you've got to wait so long for repairs on the unit at your work. Productivity must suffer which makes you wonder if the potential savings on repairs is really worth waiting for 3 bids and thus delaying the repair! I hope you get to cool off at home.

Here it is getting hot, makes it had to sleep. My wife won't up the air, she wants me to pay that bill too.

I am well known in my family for the fact that in a 90+ Chicago heat wave, by the end of day 4, I'm unable to tolerate hot food. I eat only smoothies, yogurt, sorbet, etc. until the temperature comes down. It's terrible nutrition I'm sure, and definitely high carb, but I just can't handle anything hot or that needs excessive chewing. I agree -- really cold honeydew or cantaloupe is also helpful.

I understand!! My air conditioner is working, but I'm in Las Vegas and we've been over 100 for a couple days now. Not ready for summer, it just kills my appetite, energy and motivation. We keep the house hot to avoid the sky high energy bills, but cool it enough to sleep at night.

Hey Tina, icing the wrists is a good idea, and I always grab a bandanna...(I'm a Texan, we always have bandannas) dunk it in ice water and throw it around my neck, tie it under my chin so it does not slip, it's like air conditioning for your body cools you down quick. You lose the most heat in your body through the top of your head, so slapping a bandanna full of ice on top of your head is a super fast way of cooling off. Cold foods.....chilled chicken and tuna salad, coleslaw (without the sugar), chilled mason jar salads are great and easy to pack. Ice cold vinegar and cucumbers, very refreshing. Lots and lots of ice water!

well the office right now is tolerable. but i know this afternoon it will be a sauna again. As for the ice water, i start out with it but within an hour or so it is warm. Debra - what is mason jar salads and how do you make them? Is it regular salad put in a mason jar?

Yes Ma'm there's lots of different stuff you can put in a mason jar, put the dressing on, screw the lid tight and all you need is a fork to eat it, you can stick the jars down in an ice cooler and keep it chilled or just toss it in the Fridge. Quart jar can hold a substantial salad.

I wish i could find a pasta salad recipe that didnt have a lot of carbs to it. I know the noodles would be the biggest contributor of carbs. got any ideas?

I would highly recommend some Explore Asian Soybean Spaghetti noodles that we bought at Aldi. They were pretty darn amazing and so much better for you than regular noodles. They have 17g of carbohydrate but 11g of dietary fiber which equals a net carb of 6g per serving. Each serving is 2 oz, which is 1/4 of the package. We said that this was truly a "spaghetti" portion. For something like a pasta salad, you would get like 8-12 servings, which is even less carbs. I made them with shrimp, roasted red pepper and garlic & olive oil and they were outstanding.

Check out a "spiralizer" online. You can make noodles out of cucumbers and zucchini and make a nice cold salad with a tangy Italian dressing.

i have heard about the spiralizer and have seriously thought about getting one. I will probably wait until July when i get settled into my new place. I will try not to forget

Spiralizers are da bomb! Love my Zucchini noodles with meat sauce. You should definitely try it out. :)

Shirataki noodles are also a low carb option.

The spiralizers are great and not expensive. I recently found one at Bed Bath and Beyond for $14.99 or 2/$20. I got 2 and gave one to a friend.
