My 61st class reunion is in two weeks (was supposed to be our 60th last year but cancelled due to Covid). The last time I attended a class reunion was our 5th, in 1966. So, I'd really like to attend this one, because we're beginning to drop like flys, but gathering with a group of people who are coming in from all over the place sounds like jumping into a germ pool to me. And Covid infections are on the rise. And people have gotten very careless about wearing masks. So, I'm going home for sure, because I want to visit my son, but I still haven't made a final decision about the reunion.

The new variant sounds concerning to me too! Everyone has their own thought with risks, pros and cons to weigh out. I am sure you will make the decision you feel most comfortable with!:)

I’d wear a strong mask and have fun at the reunion 💕

I'd defer to the experts and ask your doctor what they think is right for you. and I'd ask your reunion folks if there is an outdoor area because people are going to forget themselves and hug and kiss one another. best to be outside.

My friend went back to Vermont for her reunion and she wore a mask indoors. She had a great experience and said they purposely had it at a venue with an outdoor patio and a lot of events were outdoors. I encourage you to have a good time! 💜💜

good luck with your decision it sounds exciting but in Alabama they are again saying mask should be worn I have had all my shots plus two boosters

Hi Shirley. If you decide to go, make sure you are fully vaccinated and wear a mask (or two), and stay outdoors as much as possible. Unless you are immunocompromised, you'll probably fare just fine!

I just finished high school last week. I feel like a baby.

I do recommend that you attend the reunion though; just get the booster if you haven't already. Last May, my parents and I got the booster before going to a concert with 8000 people attending, most of whom were maskless, and we were fine. Then again, you're probably as old as my grandma, so the stakes are higher for you due to your weaker immune system.

Hi Shirley, Depending on how you're feeling after you get home, and how many folks you really want to see after all these years, I say Go! Be safe, get your booster if you haven't already, and wear a groovy mask!

I'm vaccinated and twice boosted, plus I had a very mild case of Covid in December so that's not a issue. 100° temperatures mean outdoors is not an option. Kaj and Rowan, I especially appreciate your comments. I am 79 and in good health. If it were not for "long Covid" I wouldn't be very concerned.

Shir, it sounds like you are good candidate to go. JUST WASH YOUR HANDS! Seriously, people like to carry on and on about masks, but hand washing is seriously where it's at. For the love of gravy, GO!

Shirley, I know many people are still wary of this virus, but as was started earlier, we all have risks just traveling, crossing the street, falling in the bathroom - ANYTHING AND EVERYTHING can and WILL kill you! If you want to reconnect with old friends before you lose someone else - GO! Have fun and quit worrying about the caca virus. Either you get it ..... or die without getting it.... we all gonna die!

I’d suggest to wear your mask(s), keep hand sanitizer handy, and hug folks only as necessary. Enjoy yourself if you go to the reunion, most understand the precautions.
