dorseybroich's Journal, 23 Jan 12

I felt OK until I ate the curried chicken salad for dinner. That was about 8:30 in the evening. I went to bed at 10:30 and awoke after a few hours with my left thumb swollen and inflamed. Same for left big toe and several smaller toes. Hips, too. Real gouty arthritis symptoms. After a few hours, they calmed down, and I was able to sleep. I should've gotten up and drunk some cherry juice, but I was too tired to think straight after a long day at work.

Chicken seems to bring on inflammation worse than beef and lamb, which usually don't cause a problem.

Thanks for asking, Hope4Health. I'm not sure. The curry chicken salad was definitely not organic. I'll buy a roasted free range chicken and see.

I looked at Dr. Weil on hormones in chicken. He says the USDA prohibits their use in pork as well as in chicken and other fowl. So, that can't be why chicken causes inflammation flare-ups. See http://www.drweil.com/drw/u/id/QAA400066
