Nice weight in today before the doctor.

Last night had to grill our chicken because we ran out of gas for our stove, no big deal, it came out quite delicious. Because of my bad foot I had to sit outside and coach the daughter on how to cook it, she did great!

This morning got up and weighed in, but since I had a doctors appointment at 10, had to move on out. I slept poorly last night, as I have been for the past week, but it does not effect me much. I generally sleep poorly unless I am on my power walking routine (oh, how I miss that!).

Doctors visit went great, finally got to see my incision on the back of my heel. Its a good 5 inch cut, healing quite nicely with no signs of swelling or infection. It looks pretty darn good. Doctor seemed pleased as well so that is great news. I think I will be able to walk minimally and put weight on my foot (in the boot) in two weeks. I am ok to go back to work next week (thank goodness)! Boot for 6 more weeks, but after the next visit (Jan 23rd), I will be able to remove it while at home, sleeping, weighing in, etc! XD! I will wear it for walking only!

After the doctor my wife and I went out to lunch at Ric's. Best American food in Bahrain is their motto. I had a bacon cheeseburger and fries. I really did not have a cheat/spike day last week, and since I was out and about I went for it. I am at about 100% RDI today (1500 cals), with dinner looking at me in an hour or so. Not very hungry. Not sure to go with a shake or lite meal. I was so stuffed after lunch it reminded me of old times.

I got a book for our kindle "Diet Rehab" that goes into how we use food as drugs to feel better. It really has put things into perspective. I can certainly see how my dopamine and serotonin are affected by foods, and how I could use them to help my feelings. I feel better eating healthy and being on this journey now, thank goodness. Makes sense really when I think about how I ate when I had hangovers, etc.

Today I am grateful for my improving mobility. I am also very grateful for my wifey, she and I can roll with changes and adapt to so many situations. She had soup while I at my cheeseburger! My kids are great too, helping me get about the house and waiting on me. And also pearl kitty, she is even adapting and rubbing against my crutches. She smells something interesting on them, but has kept her distance. Now she gets almost too close, I am afraid if I step on her paw with them.
Also grateful for my journey, fatsecret, and my lovely job.

/Cheers, JP
