Lost a little, but very disappointed that my blood sugar levels are not responding as well. I anticipated better results. Kept my total calories under 1750 yesterday and didn't eat anything at all (except a Kosher Dill Pickle Spear) within 6 hours of bedtime. Two days ago my bs was 210, yesterday was 148, and today is 154. I've gotta get this under control.
109.1 kg Lost so far: 4.4 kg.    Still to go: 20.7 kg.    Diet followed: Reasonably Well.

@Joescape, @8hunter6 makes a valid point. However, i'll push...it's what I do. You can get your Blood Sugar back to normal in 21 days or less....done. Now comes the scolding. I looked at your Food log and all I needed to see what Carbs per day...way..way to high for your condition. Keep this in your head. (Carbs - Fiber) = Net Carbs. Keep that under 30 daily and within 21 days Blood Glucose can be normalized. You eat Carbs...they get into your Blood Stream within 7-10 minutes, raising Blood Sugar, which needs insulin to remove the sugar and store in cells as...fat. Fat builds up around the Pancreas and Insulin cannot get to the blood and you are now a Type II Diabetic. The answer....quit eating the carbs!! :-)

just try it... what do you have to lose.... 21 days of doing this strictly to see if mahjohn is right... it's not that much time.....

Yup, those carbs have gotta go. That banana is full of sugar, that hazelnut coffee creamer is too.

If you do get less than 30 Net Carbs per day and are on Metformin or another medication for High Blood Sugar....make sure you check it more often...do not simply take pills on schedule, as the drop in blood sugar from your diet, combined with the artificial drop from your pills will leave you in a low blood sugar condition and a bit dizzy to say the least.

I PRAY for those blood sugars! I have been bouncing around between 200 and 400 for a year! According to the American Diabetic Association, fasting (morning) blood sugar should be below 100. I am currently trying to get below 120 in the morning. Before a meal, they want to see between 70-130 and below 180 two hours after all meals. Generally, anything between 120 and 180 is normal. I have been placed on insulin within the last month and I just took a two-day Diabetes Class that provided all that information to me. Those are the numbers the ADA published in their books and handouts as of January 2016. I hope that helps!

Fasting Blood Sugar below 100 is normal, 100 - 125 is Pre-Diabetic, 126 and above is Type II Diabetic. The numbers @MaggieEllen has listed are for Diabetics and not a normal value, looking to achieve those numbers is giving up and accepting you have Type II and there is nothing to be done about it. @MaggieEllen, 234gmsof carbs...you can and must do better than that. When you reach fasting Blood Sugar of 126 and higher, your Pancreas is covered with deep visceral fat, not allowing Insulin to do its job. To remedy the problem your Dr. puts you on pills that boost your production of Insulin and it is now able to push through the fat to get to the blood. The problem is Insulin's job is to remove sugar from the blood and store as fat. Eventually the fat around the Pancreas increases and now pills are no longer sufficient. Next is Insulin shots...Insulin directly into the bloodstream, very efficient, however, no one questions where the sugar is gone..it's just gone. It's not gone, it's stored as Fat. Low-Carb High-Fat diet and Intermittent Fasting will lower glucose levels to normal and reverse insulin resistance.

Thank you mahjohn, I will definitely take that advise to heart. Thank you MaggieEllen, and myhardhat, I just realized that the hazelnut creamer I so dearly love is, indeed, one of my problems.

@joescape: Look at every label for every food item you have. Find the line for "Total Carbohydrates" anything underneath that says Sugar...disregard, legal mumbo jumbo as to why you can still have sweeteners not listed as a Sugar. Anyway, next find the line for "Fiber". Subtract Fiber from Total Carbohydrates (fiber slows the absorption of carbohydrates...slow absorption...low blood glucose rise). Fat Secret does this for you, look in your "Net Carbs" Column. Ideally you should look to keep Net Carbs at less than 30gms per day and less than 10gms per meal. No doubt this will come as a shock to your brain as well as your body, as you'll be fighting against 30+ years of bad advice...but then again, maybe not, look where the Low-Fat message has put you...Good Luck!!

I am a diabetic. I have been on pills for 17 YEARS! When I first started, no one knew what Insulin Resistance was or how to test for it. I am one of the gynnea pigs of testing for IR and establishing a 'norm' for everyone but me and other IR-ers. As I said, I am TRYING to get to a 126 fasting. That is my current goal because I have been clocking in at 166 or so every morning. I was told those numbers are goals, not that they were for diabetics or non-diabetics. They way it was explained to me, is they were goals for everyone, 'normal' or 'diabetic.' I could be wrong as I am just now starting the insulin/diabetic learning curve and it is steep! I just don't want someone with a 154 to think he is in Final Jepordy...I AM in Final Jepordy! I have done Atkin's (EXTREME Low Carb) and lost weight, but my kidneys and liver can't handle it. SO, now I do a balanced diet and try to get my carbs from fresh veggies/fruits, not grains and starches because they send my sugars through the ROOF! I eat low-fat meats because my cholesterol panel is out of control. Low-carb is great and I feel great doing it, but if I High-Fat, I am afraid I might have a heart attack! Anyway, just my thoughts. Thanks for your information and any additional you have. I am learning and appreaciate your input.

An Atkins diet is a reboot of the William Banting letter on corpulence at the end of the 1800's. And while good, it can often be very heavy on Protein, which will stress the kidneys, liver, and possibly result in toxic ammonia in the blood as the liver and kidney's simply can't keep up. Additionally, 58% of Protein is converted to Glucose by the Liver. So what to do? Your diet should be like this: Low-Carb High-Fat with 65% of Calories from Fat and less than 30gms of Net Carbs per day. Your calorie limit should be around 1400 (I honestly think less..but we'll stick with this number). Why? At your current weight, i'm estimating 50% fat, leaving you a Lean Body Mass (LBM) of 160.5. LBM is you...your organs and muscle, there is no need to feed the fat or store more fat, fat is there to feed you. Take the 160*9 = ~1450 calories...or 1400 for rounding. You should skip breakfast and follow a 16:8 Intermittent Fasting (IF) cycle, where you eat during an 8 hour window and fast the remaining 16 hrs including sleep. With a Low-Carb High-Fat diet, you will lose weight, will not stress kidney's or liver, will normalize blood sugar, reverse insulin resistance, raise your HDL, lower your Triglycerides. Today is February 10th, where do you want to be January 1st, 2017,100+lbs lighter, or.... Look up Dr. Andreas Eenfeldt on dietdoctor.com, and research Dr. Jason Fung, who is achieving great results with IF and Insulin Resistance.
