dbdmom's Journal, 24 Aug 15

So--Sundays are my days to not count, not measure, not worry, just enjoy whatever I want. And...wowza. I paid for it today. Stepped on the scale and I went up 3 whole pounds in one 24-hr period. Eegads!

And I was *soooooo* close to reaching the 150's. It might take me 2 weeks to work my way back down, and that would be without my regular Sunday vacation-from-strictness!

Good thing Monday is here and I'm back on track.

Have you considered weighing on Saturdays (once weekly) instead? If you do continue to take a 'break' on Sundays, that would give you a full week to readjust . . . I doubt you REALLY gained 3 lbs. -- I'm sure a portion of that is just water retention depending on what you ate.

Well, considering the amount of grease and fat and salt I consumed yesterday, I probably did swell up with a lot of extra water retention. Saturday and Sunday mornings are usually my lowest weigh-ins since I weigh first thing in the morning. I know that the daily swings don't mean that much, but I weigh every day, and I am a bean counter, so I'm all about recording the weight and watching the trends and seeing line graphs, etc. etc. and projecting out where I might/could be 5 weeks out (if every day I consumer calories like I did that day), compare to where I am once those 5 weeks go by...it's just sort of my thing. So, I am thrilled with long term trending numbers so far. And I just keep reminding myself that it's not about the day-to-day (numbers) but the life-long change. I'm 10-weeks into the life-long change bit, and part of what keeps me going is knowing that I have these little islands, called "Sundays," to look forward to. But *man,* I must have really overdone it on the sodium (and everything else). Had to work at the office (getting ready for the first day of classes at the University today), and I took a 32-oz diet soda (I pretty much don't drink diet sodas anymore) and my daughter's leftover nachos for my dinner, and bought a kit kat to have since I knew I'd be at my desk working late. But it was Sunday, so I let myself have all that. (For lunch I had a big greasy burger & fries...mmmmm....and I had a not-so-small breakfast that morning, too.) But, I'm back with the plan. I have the 150's in my sight, and I'm gonna be heading back that direction!

I just re-read my last three journal entries. Ha. Noticing a pattern here. So, I'll share something new. Even with a 3 lb. post-feeding-frenzy weigh-in, I *officially* weigh less than my husband now. I found out w/out even having to ask him what he weighs. He was mentioning that he needed to lose 5 lbs to get down to 160 for his work's health insurance program (in order to keep his BMI at a certain level and not get charged an extra $30 per pay period for his health insurance). That would put him at 165. Aha! Even at 163.8, that puts me as officially under his weight. Something that probably hasn't been the case in about 12 years!! Granted, he's taller than me, so my 163.8 still has me being more overweight for my height than he is for his, but STILL! It's such a mental victory for me. Not that my husband and I were having any kind of a contest.

I LIKE that NSV!! Always nice (as a female) to know you weigh less than your significant other!
