Hubs is always on my case about eating canned veggies, frozen food and preservatives. He is convinced that is why people get dementia. All the while, he poisoned his body with tobacco for decades. And I am still convinced he is poisoning himself with tobacco. But my sugar free sparkling water is the problem. It angers me.

people will go to great lengths to hide addiction. I tried hiding smoking many times.

I think dementia is hereditary but I think it’s more from the aluminum from antiperspirant. I stopped using that years ago and switched to non aluminum ones. There are many factors that lead to dementia which also include a sedentary lifestyle. Sorry, my mom had Alzheimer’s and I’m freaked out I will get it in the future but I drink unsweetened sparkling water too. Could be his weird way of saying he cares about you and your well being. 🤷🏻‍♀️

Sounds like projection if I were to guess. Sometimes when people fall short, they will project their iniquities onto others and even onto those they claim to love. It’s a form of scapegoating and it is unjust. Try not to get into an “what about you’ism” it just makes things worse. So sorry to hear you are being tested. Still praying for you.

food terrorism is the worst... it is all about cumulative damage. There is a major difference between drinking one 12oz can of soda once a week and drinking 16.9oz bottle every single day for example

I do believe that our diet has a tremendous effect on overall health. But in my opinion, the evil player is refined sugar and carbohydrates, not salt. After World War II, the availability of refined sugar and cheap carbohydrates dramatically changed western societies diet, and if you track that intake, you’ll see that it correlates well with an increase in obesity, diabetes, and death by stroke. Personally I prefer frozen vegetables over canned vegetables if you can’t get them fresh. But I can guarantee you this… Whatever vegetables you’re eating and whatever storage container you’re getting them in are doing nowhere near the damage to your health than those damned cigarettes are doing to his.

Thank you for your feedback. I also stopped using aluminum deodorant, opting for Lume. I also think the chemical talk is a game. And that it is a way to make his bad habits better than mine. And I do not drink a lot of sugar free beverages, maybe one or 2 a week.

Real food, unprocessed as much as possible --and reasonable for one's circumstances, whether fresh or fresh-frozen as most is obviously preferable to highly processed with a long list of additives. The only healthy use for tobacco is giving it to horses as an intestinal worm treatment. Once you see a smoker's lung removed and slogged into a stainless basin in the OR, pitch black and full of tar, it makes a strong case for the lethal future of a body's lungs eh. No working lungs, no future.

Tobacco is dangerous. So are all kinds of addictions that are more acceptable than smoking. Tell your husband that smoking is worse than he thinks, and that cigarettes are about as safe as alcohol with breakfast, minus the behavior changes!!! I know food addiction is dangerous too. The best advice I got was “don’t keep it a secret” (most of the time—except for lapses that are severe enough to upset people). I know what addiction is like, but I’ve never smoked. Food, CBD + melatonin combination gummies, screen time, excess sleep, yeah. Praying for your husband, given that tobacco is partially a choice, but addiction can come from inside issues that need prayers, too. But those prayers won’t stop him from smoking, unless you do, too. Tell him it’s more dangerous than he thinks!!!
