Happy Friday & March 1st! 🌷🪻

Hubby had a cold & I think I have it now. It also could be allergies. Mostly a runny, snuffly nose. I was feeling tired yesterday, too.

We rearranged our schedule this week to get some outdoor work done. It has been raining a lot....it is again today....& the temperatures are wildly fluctuating! We tried to take advantage of the sunny days. I helped Hubby on Monday. He finally got his trimmer working & cut back a Holly bush along the side of the house. It was blocking the view from 2 windows, it had gotten so tall & wide. It looks a little pitiful now, but will be fine when it gets a little growth again. For the pruning to be effective, he had to be brutal. My job was to brace the ladder he had to stand on to reach the top, then I gathered of the cuttings in a wheelbarrow & carted them off into the woods.

He had planned to cut a 2nd Crepe Myrtle, but upon inspection, he decided it was too tall & close to power lines. He called the power company & they came out yesterday to cut it back along with some more trees on our property. They said another crew would be out with a chipper to dispose of the cut branches. We had a pile of big branches & small trees we planned to use as borders to replace some on our garden paths. I told him they probably needed to be moved to avoid the chipper. Luckily, he made the decision to stay home from our planned workout & take care of that since the crew showed up later in the afternoon to chip. He also had to repair some ruts the tires from the big machines had made along our drive. Meanwhile, I took the day to rest.

Our power was out for most of Wednesday afternoon due to some high winds. Several thousand homes in the South of the county lost power. I read my book for Book Club by a battery lantern all afternoon. My neighbor & friend was hosting Book Club, but wasn't able to cook the planned meal. We decided to meet at a resteraunt in town instead. We had to detour the opposite direction & cut back around to get into town. The power had been restored by then, but they must have still been removing downed trees cause traffic was backed up in that direction.

I've been puttering around adding Easter/ Spring decor to the house. I still think I'll redo the mantel, but I think I'm done with the rest of the decor. I usually do the dining room, kitchen & living room.

Well, I need to get a move on & make breakfast so we can get to the Gym.
