Nikina70's Journal, 01 Mar 24

Really chuffed with my weight this morning and the downward trend on my Renpho scale graph. It's still very slow weight loss, but that's what the experts usually recommend so it's all good. Since 68.1kg on Friday, the 2nd, to today is 1.4kg down in 4 weeks, which is an average of 350g a week. If I can keep that average going for the next couple of Fridays I could be at 66kg, which is where I wanted to be for my Easter holiday. I know I'll probably have a gain during that time, but hopefully tons of walking will keep it to a minimum.

I think 3 things have been helping me this week:
- IF - only eating 2 meals a day at just before noon, around 4pm and then a small snack around 9pm when I get home from work helps me stay fairly close to my 1700 calorie target. Ideally I'd have less during the week so that I raise that number over the weekend and still end up at 1700 for the daily average, but I haven't managed it this week.
- hitting over 10k steps for the last three days - walking to work and consciously walking up and down the 4 flights of stairs at work as often as I can and I'll continue to do that for the next 3 weeks.
- peppermint, green and rooibos herbal tea - is helping me to keep water intake up in this persisting cold weather.

So I think the walking is helping to burn some calories, but I think if I didn't keep my calories roughly in check that wouldn't make much of a difference anyway so overall things seem to be going ok. And this is despite not doing any strength workouts for the past couple of weeks.

Wondering if I should take my resistance bands with me on holiday and try to fit some of that in whenever there's a moment, but I don't think there'll be much downtime. My sister has a packed schedule with outings and family visits pretty much every day and I'm so ready for it!

We're doing a Meetup group walk tomorrow in our local park, which is always nice, relaxed and chatty. And they're predicting snow so we'll see about that, but I'll try to get some steps in somehow.

Hope you all have a lovely weekend!

Yup, it is, isn't it, Anne! And then I usually weigh on Mondays and Wednesdays too so I can judge where I'm heading by Friday, but it's still never an exact science and I've known when it's up I just need to keep at it best I can. Not always easy, but nice to be in a downward trend for a change.

I agree, Wifey. As long as it's going down, I can be patient.

Lol Chess! No muscle gains here for a while. Hopefully I'll pick up some weights again in spring.
