Nikina70's Journal, 24 Feb 24

My Renpho scale said 67.05kg yesterday so I'm rounding down. ;)

This week it's been easy to stick to IF, peppermint and green tea are still helping with water intake, and although I haven't had to walk to work on many days I've got an average daily steps of 7.6k so far. Doing a group walk tomorrow so will hopefully raise that a bit. Last week my average steps was over 10k so I know that helps too.

Strength workouts are still out of the window, so I'm not sure when they'll come back. I think I went through this last year as well - where winter drags on and I just can't switch my mind out of this kind of latent 'funk' that hangs around at the back of all my thoughts and seems to elevate work and life stress just that little bit so it takes over. On the surface I try to be 'normal' and cheerful and I'm still taking Vitamin D most days when I remember, but I do just wish the temperatures would start to get warmer. I am very grateful that the sun is rising earlier and setting a bit later though!

Still doing my gratitude journal - on Day 19 today. It does seem to help a bit.

I'm taking today and tomorrow off calorie counting. I would normally do it closer to the end of the month, but I'm making lasagne with garlic bread later so it will just be easier this way. I'll resume calorie counting again on Monday for the last 3 week push to my Easter holiday. If I can lose 1kg in those three week that would be grand! For me it's all about getting that daily average down to 1700 or lower and last week it was 1720. I think this week will be closer to 1900 and then if I can get as close to it again for the last 3 weeks I might just make it.

Hope you're all having a lovely weekend! xxx

Good morning, a day later, my lovely friend. I’m trying to find the energy and mind to complete some projects and strength should be one of them. So overwhelming sometimes. This app is as close as I get to journaling which is why I try to not neglect it.

Aah Kat! Thank you for stopping by, my lovely friend! Alas, after I wrote this I then neglected to write my gratitude journal for 2 days running so I hope to catch up today. Yes, sometimes FS diary entries are the 1 thing that gets done (at the very least). Hubby has been distracting me with thoughts and ideas of buying a house this year after happily renting for almost 3 years. We actually went to look at one on Friday and although I am very apprehensive it does seem to tick so many of those crucial boxes we have adjusted and tweaked through the years. I don't think I'm ready yet for the continuous 'project' that I think a home brings though, but other plusses would be that we'd be able to get a couple of fur babies possibly within this year. There's just alot of all that adulting type stuff that goes along with it that I dearly wish I could delegate to someone else. I'm trying to just see it in smaller chunks and steps to try and make it less daunting. Anyhoo - hope you've had a lovely weekend! xxx

1700 cals sounds doable. Go for it and hope the lasagna was good! 😋

My two cents. It’s always good to own a piece of dirt somewhere. You don’t even have to live in it if you change your minds later. Adulting is hard.

Thanks chicago ken! Intermittent fasting does help me to get closer to that figure, but I haven't done that well this week so far and there is still the weekend to go. Overall not too bad though - hope you are doing well too!

Thanks Kat! I guess you're right about owning a piece of dirt somewhere and I know it will bring lots of good with it. I just need to stop thinking of it as constant work and remember that at some point all the major work will be done and we can just enjoy the place. I can only hope we find the right contractors and don't have too many hassles - if it all goes through anyway. Hope you're having a good week! xxx

Nikina70 yes thanks I’m well. Upping my protein to 125. Fasting to 19/5 instead of 16/8. 1200-1600 cals. Mediterranean

Great plan, Ken! I think if you're hitting your targets, you'll be at goal any day now. I'm curious - will you keep protein that high at maintenance? I am guessing the high protein helps with hunger. If/when I've managed to get as low as 1400 cals, I've been quite hungry, but possibly because of much lower protein intake.

Nikina. I think the protein is more for a metabolism boost but I’ll let you know about hunger. I’ve been doing more protein shakes today. Not filling. It’s the lettuce and broccoli that helps. Fiber

Aah yes, I try to keep fibre up to around 30g a day too, chicago ken. I find it helps alot.

Nikina the fiber and protein are helping also I drink 100 ozs of water per day. Or at least try to.
