59Carol's Journal, 10 Feb 24

Finally a loss! I lost 2.0 pounds this past week. What was different? For one very important thing - I was in town exactly one day last week! I was at a social evening one other day. Compared to the last few months this is quite a change. Clearly when at home, my routines carry me well.

This upcoming week isn't going to be the same. I have an evening meeting, an afternoon at my daughter's office, an all day town day and an afternoon meeting. The toughest food wise will be the one all day town day. That one will be Breakfast and lunch in town and getting home hungry for supper. The rest I can handle easily, I think.

I have been very busy this past week working on the Women Shelter finances and meetings to get it up and going since the mold situation. Hopefully we will open our doors by mid March, maybe sooner. I have been spending time organizing for an upcoming Used Book Sale in support of the Women's Shelter, a Summershine party in July for my 65 birthday, working on two sets of books to get ready for the accountants and taxes, put together a casino report for the government, organized and chaired the Women Shelter emergent meeting, and for fun attended a Book Club meeting! And this was a quiet don't go to town week!

I have the exact same problem. Eating away from home is a problem in my area. Few healthy choices.

Great job! You know how busy you are, and what you have planned so you definitely can do your best to plan for it with healthy snacks, looking ahead at menus etc. You've got this!

Sometimes I am busier than I wish however I do like to be 'doing'! Eating away is mostly me who is the problem. The feeling of entitlement and wanting to treat myself. There are healthy and low calorie choices available. I find I have to do a mental walk through and make choices ahead of time and not deviate in the moment as the deviation always leads to greater calories!! The biggest problem happens if the place I planned to go to is closed for some reason. At one time there was a restaurant I liked that closed on Mondays and another time that there was a town water break and they had to close! Those things really send me off the rails as having to make a different choice while already hungry doesn't bode well for me! In the meantime, I have to work at not eating 'car food' like sugar candies and not having more than I planned like getting a second homemade dessert because they taste so good! Snacks on the fly are toughest as I always think I don't need one but when I do I am flummoxed and promptly eat a poor choice.
