Lisa Online's Journal, 14 Jul 11

I Woke up this Thursday vacation morning from a phone call from my friend Carla whom I met when I was 10. It is always good to hear from her and know that she is a cancer survivor who helps a lot of people in her small community by "Spreading The Love" as she often says. Her name means "Strong" and she is. She helps people in her small town who have cancer or other health issues go to their doctor or other ways one assists. She is a friend indeed when there is a friend in need. The small country store she works at loves her friendly, outgoing, personality and they appreciate the gem that she is. I am extremely happy that she is in my life.

I weighed in this morning to keep my vow of accountability and have a cup of coffee in my hand and feel like writing about time passages.

Yesterday while I was people watching at the six flags amusement park I realized Brian and I were two of the oldest attendies and roller coaster enthusiasts. For some reason Brian cannot ride the high speed coasters without getting naseous. Next time I will have him try some Dramamine and see if this will help him.

Enjoying show after show and seeing the 51 year old Elephant I was thinking about how cool it would be to have a time machine and blink my way back to 1980. Quite honestly this time frame doesn't feel all that long ago. If I had the power to do this the elephant, Brian and I would have been just a handful of folks that would have been left in the park and and a whole lot of people who have long since passed would have been transported back. Life is fleeting but according to the mortality statistics in 1900 a man and woman could expect to live to the age of 50. we are on the brink of doubling our life expectancy since the turn of the century. It appears this epedemic struggle with weight loss and the health issues we face are new ones because we are sustaining our life here on earth a lot longer. So if you are reading this, you and I are pioneers in taking care of ourselves as we age. Keep your spirits up because we are going where no man has gone before. TOWANDA!!!!

I love reading your journal, Lisa. It's so amazing really, to think about. For me, I'm really not trying to extend my life. I'm really aiming for quality of life as in, "more life in my years" lol. I "think" we are accomplishing that and the added years are just a byproduct of our lifestyle changes. I admit, I would love to stay here long enough to enjoy seeing my granddaughter grow up though. We truly are pioneers Lisa! ♥Ruby

I agree it seems like only yesterday when we were young. Time just marches on doesn't it? It's kind of funny for me because now that I am with Steve I am remembering all those things that we did together for all those years and sometimes it seems like it was only yesterday. Take care Lisa. I will be back here more often very soon. I miss you!!
